Beefhook: The Movie

I think I’ve cracked the code. I have spent MANY hours pouring over the minutiae of this trick, into the realities and fantasies of the do-this and the do-that. No more pulling to cinch. No more floppy loops hoping to cross paths with the gyroscope at just the right time.

IT’S BEEFIN TIME:

Nice vid :100:

Beef hooks are my favorite thing to do, hitting them on the brass aoda mini or mighty flea is addictive, try it if you get a chance. But I can throw out some more advice for you, thinner the string the easier the beef hooks. I love thick string but it seems to snag the whip around more making it harder to hit since your finger needs to be closer to the yoyo. With thinner you get more spacing. Ive got to a point where I can hit them on command; but yeah, thought I would share what helped me

If you’re the queen… are you looking for any others to join your castle of beef?

Beef hooks are the best. I throw one in most combos just because it’s quick, easy once you know what to do, and you can roll right into whatever mount you want from it (I usually do 1.5 > branding or 1.5 > wrist mount like the start of Tsunami Bomb)

Edit- I like to pull down and in a bit with my nth after releasing the yoyo, I find I have the most consistent success getting the hook when I do that.

I still haven’t gotten a hook.

Yeah. I honestly haven’t learned anything new for a while. I’m struggling just to hold on to what I have. I think there are a few things in this video that I can directly correct on my throw. I’ll try it a thousand times and see what happens…:rofl::rofl:

I am so confident in this course that if it doesn’t work it’s free! But wait: there’s more!

But for real there are a few other things I can add but for the sake of brevity I added the most important things.

Sigh…ok…I guess I’ll work on beefhook again.

Would like to up my ratio of 1/10 to 1/2 if possible. Video looks interesting. Solid tips at least

Broooo, THANK YOU! After months of failing I started to hit Beef hook consistently (3-5 out of 10).

For me it was a combination of things plus one you haven’t mentioned:

  • holding TH steady and at the correct angle - a bit over the NTH
  • releasing the yoyo exactly how you said, when the strings hits the finger of TH or just before
  • and the last one - I understood that the key is to swing from the pointer finger of the NTH and it needs to give it enough momentum to move the string and form the hook - somehow I had to do your setup to understand what was there from the beginning (I sometimes landed Beef Hooks right after the first trapeze and always throwing hard to the right - and it was all about the power behind that swing)

BTW. the feeling of revelation is similar to the one of unlocking the Magic Drop. There are tons of tutorials about that one, but none of them tells you the right thing

I am honored to have been able to help. Second success story so far! And thank you for the point there, I have 20 minutes plus easy of additional details but I wanted to test run it clipped down to 5 minutes before I spent the time to film and edit more. I felt like this was enough info to help most people at the point where learning this assumed some prerequisites but I have really enjoyed talking lite physics and adjacent for this trick.
