Yyj speed bearing vs 10 ball bearing

I recently received my dm2 I comes with the speed bearing, but I have a 10 ball bearing that was in my steroid. Which would be better cleaned and a little lube to put in the dm?

My guess is the Ten Ball would play better. LOL MY STEROID!

“my steroid”? What on earth could that have been?

I slightly prefer OD 10-balls to YYJ Speed… but honestly, there’s not much difference. Put one of’em into your yoyo and get your throw on!

Lmfao asteroid!! Damn iPhones! Thanks

I personally prefer the speed bearing over the 10 ball by a very small margin:

1st the speed. I found this bearing to be a bit more consitent than a 10 ball. The 10 ball often changes noise pitch and can make schreechy sounds. DOesnt affect performance, but still. Also, i found the speed bearing to be a bit more durable. A 10 ball i got on the day after i got a speed bearing (about 8 months ago mind you) locked up on me in march, and my speed is still alive.

I found ONE thing that the 10 ball seemed to be better at then the speed. It seems to be abit smoother when heavily lubed then the speed. I did a tv commercial type of experiment on a 10 ball and speed to test this out.

This might just be my expenience, but both are great bearings and play very similar to one another. Either way, the bearings play very similar in all yoyos, including the DM2. Go with either one.

There’s really no clear answer. I have a bunch of OD 10 Ball bearings and a bunch of YYJ Speed Bearings, and once I’ve cleaned and treated them, they all spin roughly the same amount of time. If I were to average them, I’m sure the numbers would be pretty much a tie. I also find both to be very smooth as well.

I’d say since you have both, clean both and treat them both the same and then try them both. Whatever one you feel you like better is the winner.

Unfortunately I really like kk that came in my magic yoyo t5 but I need to order a concave one that fit my dm :frowning:

Whats funny is the kk in a t5 fits perfectly in the DM2! Use that!

It seems that you have 1 Magic yoyo, a YYJ DM2, and a (a)Steroid…

All the bearings in those 3 fit in all yoyos. Your better off to leave the bearings in each that came with them.

10 ball in the Steroid
Speed (which has 10 balls) in DM2
And the cheap Chinese concave in the MYY.

The YYJ speed is probably the best quality.

The 10ball is the smoothest and quietest, but spazzes out more often. The speed seems more reliable. The kk will fit in your Steroid (we have to call it that from now on. ;D).

I can’t speak to the Speed’s reliability as I only have two. Of the two, one of them spazzed out and cleaning isn’t restoring it.

That doesn’t change my opinion; I just wanted to throw it out there as evidence that there are still no guarantees with such things.

I didn’t even try the kk in the cheap Chinese in the dm2 because it didn’t fit in my legacy 2 I guess when I get home from work ill try it. There was a small seem on the outer edge with it in the legacy that the string slipped into when I would throw.

Don’t bother with the lube. I prefer just cleaning them, drying them, and playing

Haha, I prefer my Speed, as it doesn’t go crazy loud twice a day. As for my ten ball…

Lmao nardcopter your right I have noticed, learned to enjoy my personal dub step maker. The playing dry part is a little sketchy, I hear it shortens the life of the bearing?

What this guy said… Even if the noise wasnt unpredictable i still think the speed bearing plays better
