YYJ Bearing- lubes

So i fogot to order some lube when i ordered my X-Convict and a spare bearing…
In the learning section videos, andre said WD-40 might work, but isnt so good for the bearing:p
Can anyone tell me more about this, or offer an alternative lube?
thx:D

Don’t use WD-40. 3-in-1 oil, trumpet valve oil, olive oil, and gun oil all work just fine.

kk thx, but whats 3 in 1 oil? and wont olive oil like leave a smell or soemthing?

Use sewing machine oil, or trumpet/trombone oil (valve oil) for thin lube
3 in 1 oil is thick lube and will make it more responsive
don’t use olive oil.
If you get WD-40 on your bearing it will help the break it up if its rusted, but thats about it. It’ll eat your bearing quickly if you leave it on there and must be washed off by soaking in naptha (Zippo fluid), or mineral spirits (paint thinner), then dried, preferabley with compressed air, before applying oil. just use a little little bit of oil.

Again. WD-40 WILL NOT HARM YOUR BEARING. It will break up any old lube and if done right will remove all lube. Then it will dry. If this happens and you don’t lube it in any way it will rust. WD-40 won’t rust, harm or do anything else to your bearing. I’ve used it on so many bearings its pathetic. I ALWAYS thin lube afterwards.
