i for one have not throw the superwide, but when i saw it i new it would be a jewel to have because it offers everything i need (for my skill level) and it will increase my skill level greatly i can almost bet my collection on it. i talk to many people, big people in the yo-yo world, and heard nothing but good things about it, Cleveland yo-yo club had a day for people to come try the superwide many went in thinking it would be horrible and they would have no interest. and most came out loving it, some trying to buy it. Steve brown went in having his doubts and was throwing it more than anyone. so why not buy it? at the worst you wont like it and be able to trade it or sell it, i know i would buy it from you.
but, the throw does have something to do with learning, specially when you cant keep a smaller throw stable, the superwide will open the world of yo-yos to many more people.
Ok so I’m feeling some resentment towards this throw, and I haven’t tried it yet, but I can relate to EXTREME products and getting hated for the extremeness. Best example my Yolo Foxes string. They are hard as a jagged rock on the hand, but they whip better than Indiana Jones. This yo-yo with shall we "adjusted throw techniques could open up a whole new plethera of tricks. Also learning with extremes in this case extreme gap can make you a better thrower in general. For example I learned Haydemasa Hook on Yolo’s and Truck Driving Girls. Now I can do with a used cotton on a fairly consistent basis. I guess a tired point that I have been trying to hit is variety makes us better throwers. There might not be much that the super wide will offer in unique style possibilities, but before bringing the hammer down on this throw ask yourself what can I do with my “Gnarwhal” (my example) that I can’t do with my Hitman (another favorite). In my case not much. Why do I have the Gnarwhal. It gives me another angle, and it has helped build on what I had prior.
Think about it, the farther out from the center the weight is placed, the more momentum that is generated, maybe momentum isn’t the right word, stability, that is why so many snarky people are pointing out how it would be great at eli hops. The two things, as far as I know, that contribute to stability is the placement of the rim weight and how wide it is. This has both with a massive catch zone. This is probably going to be a really good throw, despite it looking like doorknobs. I hope I have the cash to pick one up in the nearer future. Ben, and thoughts on a Mini/Undersized Super Wide yoyo? o.O I would totally buy it Make the Popstar but only superwide, call it the Wide-Weeniestar WWS ftw?!
Guys, who cares if this yoyo changes anything? I mean, look at the last set of yoyo releases that have occured recently: Have any of them significantly changed anything? Why is it that people have to poke holes in this YoyoFactory release when most others go without so much as a thought? So WHAT if it’s crazy looking? Some people LIKE crazy looking. Some people will buy it, yes. Some may love it, and a comparable amount may hate it. Honestly, if you turn your attention away, it’ll be like it never existed… trust me.
I honestly don’t give a [HOOT] what yoyos are being produced. I will buy the ones I like.
I am critical of this yoyo because it seems like the design is counter-productive. As was said before, it may help with stability and hard catches, but the superior width may subtract from the tech tricks we need to do.
Honestly, if we don’t hold companies feet to the fire, do they feel compelled to try harder? I always find criticism to be the best form of inspiration
Don’t like it? Don’t buy it. Business is about appealing to a wide (pffffff) audience, and some people may like what this yoyo offers. We get it, you don’t like this yoyo because the design is impractical and not progressive. Just close your eyes, cover your ears and hum a little while we wait to see what the sales say. It only bothers you if you let it.
So you’re saying that I am wrong in questioning the practicality of the yoyo? I was never out of line, and I think I handled it in an -okay- manner. I tend to keep an open mind, and I wanted reasons as to why this wasn’t a novelty. I never said I didn’t like the yoyo, at all. I just wanted to know what specific aspects the design provides. It’s a fair thing to want to aquire knowledge. No?
you mean like a pgm or a protostar or a northstar or a starlight?
,
thank you guys for agreeing with my earlier point. so what if it isn’t inovative. was the yoyo that you are holding now inovative? doubt it. and if you think it is counter productive, than it must be counter productive. that is not how things work. it may look counter productive, but that is what i said when i saw hubstacks. they are fun, and they are interesting. some may not like them, but i find them fine.
I have nothing against this yoyo, but, I don’t intend on buying it right now. I’ll probably get a Miracle to try out the shape, and, if I like it, I’ll upgrade to the SuperWide or Monster.
