@everyone who is asking what the superwide has to give that no other yoyo can. i pose to you a question myself. take your favorite yoyo. now look at it. then ask yourself “what does this yoyo do that no other does?” the answer is nothing. all advanced level yoyos for 1a, 3a, and 5a should offer the same thing as every other yoyo. the difference is all opinionated.
now taking that information, lets say it was a long time ago in a galaxy that is our own. you heard that ball bearings are being put in yoyos. PREPOSTEROUS you may say. and fast forward to now, almost all yoyos have it (at least the ones that are not owned by ed). same can be said for butterfly shaped yoyos. so at the time, people were saying “what does a ball bearing have to offer. they are a load of work, but for what, a few more seconds on your sleep time?” sound familiar?
This is also just going to be a preference yoyo. Just because it’s yyf doesn’t automatically mean it’s a great yoyo. It will simply appeal to certain types of people IMO. Some will love it, others won’t.
I don’t know the specs on the Aoda yoyo pictured, but it looks comparable.
My thoughts on a yoyo this wide is that (at my skill level) it will make tricks that I like to do a bit more challenging while offering massive stability on every throw. With the price tag under $70, as an adult with a job, I can’t say I wouldn’t get one just to see.
I think tricks like spirit bomb, white buddha, and ladder escape would be like squeezing a camel through the eye of the needle. However, If you can land those with it… how much better at it will you be when you pick up your ordinary throw and try it again?
I’m curious how the Superwide would do on whip tricks like Hidemasa Hook and Brent Stole. Easier? Our could it improve your skills there, too, by being more difficult to master? Eli Hops would be as easy as a trapeze mount. Horizontal style tricks would look really interesting. Gyroscopic Flops would be epic.
I own 3 YYF’s already and I couldn’t be more pleased with the yoyos they put out. I wouldn’t be surprised to see other companies releasing their own equivalents soon.
Okay Guys, this is what I Think.
No Matter what I say, I Respect Each and Every One of you Guy’s Opinions.
I think that this YoYo would be Incredibly Fun. Just Fun. I do not think that this YoYo was to be Taken Seriously as the 888, or any Other Popular Competitive YoYo. Im Not Saying that Nobody will take this YoYo Seriously and Use it for Competitions, Im Saying that that this YoYo was Mainly put out there for Fun and to Entertain us YoYoers.
i re quote myself here to say that it is a pretty great throw though though not based on hard core performance specs it still can be used at a contest. also the monster [yet to be realeased] is a better material superwide. and to ben hes only trying to back his team and opinion up. so all in all here it comes down to personal preferences and opinions
well… this has definitely proved to be an interesting conversation and has made me quite anxious to try one (not currently in the funds )…
i imagine that it probably wont be a competition yoyo, but like the mighty flea it will make the average non-yoyoer flip (even my grind machine gets remarkable attention)
I wasn’t Saying you Couldn’t use it in Contests. Not what I meant at all. I meant that you Could use it in Contests, but it Seems Mostly like a Fun YoYo, for Show Off Sweet Tricks.
I for one am choosing to reserve judgment until I try one. I’m just wondering why anyone would say that this is not a yo-yo meant for contest play, and then compare it to the Mighty Flea of all things. I’m just not following the logic is all.
