Goemon is such a good series. You should play the N64 ones at some point if you ever get a chance.
If games are on the table, one of my favorites is Bridget in Guilty Gear XX. Everything in his moveset is based around what feels like THP era looping/string tricks.
I am definitely looking forward to continuing the series. And also wished I could be better at fighting games like GG and MvC. They always have the best sprites!
Itās in one other episode with Argyle (pizza dude). Itās a real weird inclusion, because the sound is off (to my ears) and in the two scenes Iāve seen, heās throwing it behind someone or something. I feel like they didnāt want the actor to actually throw a yo-yo, and they also didnāt want to fully CG the thing.
I need to watch this movie! I saw The Pirates and The Adventurers which I think are both from Korea and they were awesome, lots of great ridiculous action but with a good story and interesting characters. So Iāve got a soft spot for these types of films for sure.
I spotted this one while watching the 2017 movie āLifeā. I couldnāt find any YouTube clips, so hereās some zero gravity throwing with Jake Gyllenhaal haha:
A friend of mine shared some exciting yoyo news with me last night, thereās a new character to Guilty Gear that was just released that also features a yoyo in her fighting arsenal. A little cringe worthy since itās used as a weapon, though I did genuinely love seeing a subtle nod to walk the dog when the character walked around:
I just find it comical continuing to see our hobby misrepresented.
At the end of the day Iām glad itās there for more exposure to our hobby, but it does further reinforce a commonly misunderstood myth about the history of yoyo. Iād feel the same way seeing cds used as throwing weapons or using kendama like a nun chuck!
Thatās super cool! Iām ecstatic to try the game out for the first time as my friend already has it, so weāll see if thereās any other yoyo Easter eggs for the characterās move list.
