Looks awesome. Reminds me more of the Da Vinci than the Shortcut but that’s probably just the rings jumping out at me. Is paper cut a word play on low cost?

Through out the years, yoyofriends has being weather the storm of many things. I think it is time to be more transparent on how yoyofriends work. We are not just a typical OEM. We are a collaboration between the players and manufacturer. Most yoyo design are stemmed from us yoyofriends ourselves. For example, I thought of peregrine and the upcoming super inner ring in a car with my friend. I also had the idea of the vulture, tachyon, nucleon and many more. Signature yoyos from yoyofriends are made according to the player with them have pretty much full freedom of design and color choices. Example is Graviton and upcoming yoyo by Tony Sung, Tomoki Toyama’s Da Vinci, Malte Voss’ Paragraph and Drake’s Shine. Every single design are double, triple and quadriple checked by the yoyofriends team, especially me before it can be produced. Yes, I personally check every single design myself and give feedback along with our players to let the in house designers of yoyofriends execute. Every single yoyofriends yoyo’s inspiration and design philosophy is written in the blog post by me personally or the player of the signature yoyo personally. I also have overview video of how the yoyo came to be and the deisgn process in my overview video, which I do on every mainstream yoyofriends yoyo. Yoyofriends is not just some oem making yoyos. Every yoyo have a purpose from an idea. Weather it’s me, Tony, Ryota, rest of the yoyofriends player or in house designers. I really want to sort this out because yoyofriends has been brought out multiple times due to the attachment of fpm. I don’t see the problem in that but I do see it undermines my entire yoyofriends player team, who work and tested hard to steer yoyofriends in the right direction for years and for more years to come.

Thanks for that Philip! Really, the idea that Yoyofriends, a group of competition yoyoers and designers with a direct connection to one of the best manufacturers in the business would, for their 8th anniversary release, decide to just knock-off someone elses design, is pretty absurd! You guys obviously care about what you do! Here’s to another 8 years!

Are the rings on the teal papercut raw as in they will oxidize or are they clear coated? Noticed on two retailers they are described as “raw.”
Should be anodized with a raw finish.

Aren’t the rings “just” stainless steel? Which is of course very resistant to oxidizing.

Thanks for the transparency. I can say this I really enjoy my Yoyofriends yoyo Pheasant monometal an want more. I believe I’m throwing what I call a premium designed and manufactured yoyo so that matters to me as buyer, owner and collector. Yo-yofriends as a brand and manufacturer connection in my opinion should continue what they been doing making excellent products not to stop doing that. The top quality control definitely makes sure a great reputation stays a great reputation.
