I agree, it’s good advice but the pup get’s a second wind pretty quick and I’ve found that exercising her only get’s her more hyped up. It’s hard to do in the Texas heat, she over heats real quick (so do I) and she will let me know when she wants to go back inside. I play frisbee with her, which she’s going to be a great frisbee dog. But I take her on 5 - 6 walks (long ones in the morning/night) every day and the last walk of the night is when she gets her most hyper and that also just so happens to be the time that I want to break out the yoyo’s… she’s got WAY more energy than I do, lol. We’ll get there though.
Oh, puppies….
Honestly though, I think the break has kind of been good for me. I was feeling kind of stuck in a rut and now when I do get the chance to throw, I feel like my accuracy has improved as well as my creativity with it. Same thing is true with guitar, it’s almost like you just need some time to let those neural pathways to make a strong connection before getting back to practicing.
(This item is available from several sources. I’ve not used this source, to the wanted to post a pic of the item.)
I’ve used this to give my dog something to do on various occassions. Works well and depending on the size of the treat, placed in the box, it can keep my dogs attention for quite a while. The sand paper works great for the front nails. However, once my dog started trying different tactics to remove the items, I took the sand paper off to protect his teeth. There are many other puzzles that work quite well for keeping a dogs attention.
Sometimes working a dog with a flirt will help with both the physical and mental exercise needs. There a numerous videos on how to make a flirt.
You could train your dog to stay in a certain room or on a carpet mat when you yoyo.
Training a dog takes effort but dogs enjoy it! Train the dog as you train yourself! LOL Sometimes i feel the dog trains me!
first yoyo is great but it also got totally demolished by my dog.
Cool idears, I’m going to give them a try, thanks! And I totally agree with you regarding the dog training you, I think we could all learn a lot from our dogs.
This is what scares me. I keep my collection in the YYS case I bought but it doesn’t close up easily so I just leave it out along with all my other yoyo’s, I’m always worried I’m going to turn around and see her chewing on one of them, lol. I watch her closely but sometimes when I’m busy with work and I’m under my headphones, she can go sneak off. Just yesterday, I was bragging that she was already potty trained to some of my friends… well, I have my rocking chair and a bunch of pillows stacked on the couch to keep her off until she’s house trained (then I’ll let her up on the furniture) but she thought it was a good idear to pull down a pillow so she could pee on something soft! Haha, that tripped me out. At least she didn’t want it to splatter everywhere I guess.
