No one and I mean no one has mentioned insurance as a cost that I’ve talked to so watch my surprise as every venue I’ve talked to has asked for a COI ( certificate of insurance) or had an upfront cost of a fairly large amount to be added on to their liability insurance as a rider for the event. Heck I’ve even found this requirement with a few places I reached out to for hosting club at but I just moved on to other options because I was trying to keep club cost neutral.
Anyone else experience this when planning a contest and how did yall go about handling this? I can probably get event coverage and add a line item to my budget or even just annual liability insurance for club in general and pay that out of pocket but honestly never crossed my mind to do so until planning a contest and seeing the COI requirements from venues.
All thoughts are welcome and would love to know if anyone has any cheap options they know of for such a thing.
