I want pinball machines to be my other hobby. They’re just too expensive!

I had two machines that a family member bought with the intention of fixing them up. They never did and moved out of country so I got them. I kept them for like 2 years wanting to fix them up too. Never got around to it. Ended up begging someone else to take them off my hands and gave them away.

The moral of my story is I guess be prepared to have a really big thing take up a large portion of your living space and be prepared to work hard to fix it including chasing around hard to find parts.

It could be fun but I found the idea of it was a lot more appealing to me than the reality. I still sometimes wish I had one even now :joy: even after that lesson.

I had a 6-player X-Men cab in my basement for a few years. Eventually, we stopped using it, and I sold it to a barcade in PA that gave it a beautiful facelift.

This happens to a lot of players. I enjoy working on games as much as I enjoy playing them. I currently own 8 games (7 work, one is a slow moving project). I have owned around 20 over the past 7 years. I used to buy older non working games, restore them, play them for a while and then sell them. I now own a good mix of older and new games, play in a league and host tournaments at my house with my friends often. It’s a fun hobby but games are expensive. I’m happy with my current collection though so it probably won’t change for a while.

Yoyos are much cheaper and take up far less space but tend to be a more solo activity. I enjoy both though and my wife is cool with both hobbies so that’s a bonus.

I will get you added once I can get to a computer and do the Admin work.

My Regen game escalated tremendously by missing kick flips. I still miss a lot of Kick Flips…

The Origen is a very good throw. I have had a few and I keep giving them to friends because they are so consistent and good.

My wife and I were cleaning our basement storage room this morning and I found the Butterfly XT that got me started back 2014. I forgot I had flip the caps over and added stickers. This afternoon I loaded it up with some Super Lube grease and replaced the string. Plays pretty great. Been practicing stalls to a regen after dismounting the stall. It’s such a light throw it plays really well slowed down. It’s not nearly as balanced/smooth as the origin but this thing still rips. Thinking about grabbing a Hello Kitty one as my grab and go beater to carry with me.

Cool pics, what a find! The XT’s are surprisingly pretty good for the price. I still pick mine up occasionally, and the fact that you can walk into most big chain stores and just find them on the shelf has saved me a couple of times, or helped make it easy to get into the hands of someone hoping to learn. It’s a classic and still floating around for a reason!

The Metal Harbinger is the best 0A metal. Get your hands on one of those if you can.

This is an old style XT. The new ones added a few grams IIRC. They are opaque.

Made sure to show The Count the good life, since it’ll never see a competition stage otherwise.

My wife and I just got our BMW going after a long and drawn out process of refreshing some things in the engine. It feels nice.
