I’m a Makita guy for 18 volt but Milwaukee has been good to me in their 12 volt line.

Adding new brushes?

i did commercial work so durability was paramount and i used to use dewalt but as my dewalts burned up my boss replaced them with milwaukee and i stopped having drills burn out

Makita is the way

Thankfully, it’s just a broken lever. The one to switch drill directions is plastic and worn out.

I’m just hoping it holds up a bit after being fixed. Pride strings are coming up, and last year I had a TON of orders for them.

I have a single brace and it’s upsetting that it’s missing the jaws. I need to repair it.

#1 - The drill is fixed (for now.) Gonna save up for a Milwaukee, I think.
#2 - Edits have been made to the Zine above. If anyone else finds anything, let me know! I think I’m going to tweak the "How to String up Your Yo-Yo section a bit.

Im going to get my grandads one of these and make some string with it :joy:

I’ve killed a dewalt. I’ve also killed a Milwaukee but it was some old brushed thing. 18v Fuel is a beast. As long as you avoid that one single drill they made that burned like clockwork. They fixed that though from what I’ve seen.

I’ve killed multiple power tools from every brand. And which brand has the best and/or most durable definitely changes over time. That said, in recent years Hilti and Milwaukee have generally held up better than most brands in the places I’ve worked.

All this being said, since the drill is meant for a string rig I don’t know if something like a Milwaukee 18v is needed haha you might end up spending more for a nicer drill but a worse string making tool.

Anything with a battery is probably worse unless you make string away from an outlet. High speed and high torque aren’t needed (and might be worse?) I haven’t made any string myself but it seems to me like the ideal solution would be something with constant speed and torque, most new drills have a variable speed trigger that would introduce an extra variable into the rate of twist. A thrift store older drill without a variable trigger might do you better.

OK. I’m stumped. I have tried everything to get a Boomers Club yoyo. I filled out a google form and looked everywhere.

How did I miss the boat?

Welcome to the party. I noticed the form was still “up” the other day. It’s not really intended for use at this stage. It was from way back when they were doing pre-orders. Then based on that, @G2_Jake added a % of overage and made them up. When they came in - the pre-orders were fulfilled and then @Pun1sh3R started making a list of those like me and you who came to the party late and wanted to try and snag one of the extras. Those were just fulfilled a week or so ago. At this stage - I don’t believe there are any left but Cody could say for sure. I’d say your best hope now is watching the BST. Happy hunting. It’s worth the hunt.

You might try messaging Jake directly? Last I heard, there were some reds left. Not sure if they still are but could be worth a shot

Yeah the last few remainders went up on the G2 Patreon 5 days ago. It looks from the comments like there may be a few reds left. Don’t know if you have to be on the Patreon at this stage or not so might just message Jake and confirm.
