Came across this beauty while looking for tape decks yesterday:
I wouldn’t pay that price, but damn I’d love to own one of these.
Colors look familiar?
If I even liked cassette tapes, I’d def be down to get this for that price
Yeah tbh, that might actually be worth it. Modern tape players are garbage. If I am not mistaken, there is just a handful of companies now that produce the tape transports for all the modern machines and they are… not made well nor do they use quality components. Vintage is the way to go to get the most from your cassettes.
Here’s a video that touches on the problems with the modern cassette decks, linked to the part where he discusses this.
I got no problem with the cassette players, they are a phenomenal piece of equipment, the cassette tape, on the other hand, was one of the worst formats for playing music. The only thing worse was HitClips™
Excuse me, it was a perfect design. You carried around 10 songs and you were continuously burning more calories than hitting the gym. Plus, all the plastic jangling around, you could hear your friends coming from a mile away.
Not my picture by the way, haha!
I really loved the Minidisc. I got into Minidiscs around the time they started to die out, but they were perfect to toss into my bag during college and carry a ton of good music.
I was all in when the Mini Disc came out. Napster hadnt been sued…
It was a lot easier to make “Mixed Tapes” drag mp3’s to a file. Drop on the disc.
With the release of the IPOD, Zune… Poor Mini Disc didnt stamd a chance.
I’ve been feeling a real disconnect with music lately. I miss having the tactile element to listening.
I recently modded my old ipod with more storage (and a new, non beat-up shell) and have been putting all my CDs onto it. I stopped having a cd player a few years ago, but i never stopped collecting cds. Its been a really nice change to just using Spotify and just seeing whats new, now i can listen to older stuff i enjoy on repeat without distractions
Ah, yes, I love listening to 1/3 of a song because that’s all the clips storage could muster Truly, the best way to listen to songs
@rkalajian / @Pun1sh3R I never got into minidisk, old enough to know what they are, young enough not to be able to buy them, however, had I bought into the, I, for sure, would have gone all out with them. I truly am the worst trend picker.
- I thought HD-DVD was going to take off
- I thought Zune was going to hit big (not iPod big, but I couldn’t afford them anyway, so, naturally, they sucked)
- I thought the vinyl revival was a fad (in fairness, it is kinda dying off again, so I wasn’t technically wrong, but it’s dying off because the record labels are taking mad advantage and upselling at about a 150-300% markup; greedy corps)
I’m sure there’s other losers I’ve picked but those ones definitely stood/still-stand out
However, HitClips, for sure, were never a pick for me, not that I didn’t enjoy them while they lasted.
Well now I’m worried that you like yo-yos so much…
@Vikingman2041 Welcome to the club. You have been added to the member list in the first post.
Incredibly awesome sticker design, I’ve been on a huge Death Moth kick lately every since my wife got a preserved one not too long ago. They are gorgeous.
Dang, it’s 22°F (-5°C) where I live, and we’ve got a “Winter Storm Warning” out. (all according to my laptop)
I’m a Dutch guy, I prefer the cold anyway.
Feel like I’m a bit late to the party, but I think I’m about ready for FAF.
Already had the Butterfly, Imperial just showed up this morning, and then I’ve got a pair of 3D printed FA throws ready. First, the ORK, design courtesy of the amazing @AudreySickburn , and the second my own honeycomb inspired design. I also have an Unknown edition Butterfly around here somewhere, but it wasn’t handy for the pic.
Thank you to the YYBC for putting on the FAF event, I’m very excited to be here and be a part of it.
Love that honeycomb design!
