Yup. Your recent acquisition was only possible because I bought a second one to try to trade for a TiWalker or some other hard to get Ti, and then I got the sovereign, and overspent my budget. The remaining aurora in my collection is not going anywhere.
You also got the more colorful one. Mine is blue and silver.
How much would you guys say a raw, polished Duncan Mayhem with 3 flatspots is worth? I saw one on the BST, and lately, I’ve caught the Small Bearing fever, so I was interested. But, the list price was $80. That seems REALLY high, considering it is:
A. Not Mint
B. Raw/Polished (Not factory raw)
C. It’s a Mayhem, and these don’t seem to hold their value
D. Mayhem’s retailed at $79.99, which is one cent CHEAPER than what this one is going for…
Thanks in advance for the help guys, I’ll update the list soon.
Edit: In addition to the previously stated damage, there are a lot of raw marks and small scratches, based on the images.
To be honest, I’d probably say $30 or cheaper. Atleast, that’s what I’d pay for it. Maybe I wouldn’t even pay that much, but that’s just my honest opinion.
My apologies for the low evaluation, its certainly wasn’t supposed to be a slight towards anyone. And for sure having people join the conversation who’ve recently acquired one is useful, however I should add that I was also one of those people - and yes it is a great throw, although mine is not completely mint. And everything that everyone has posted above is correct, this is a speculative thread, particularly for higher priced/rarer throws, because they don’t come up as often, and are so dependent on the number of people interested at the time of ‘auction’. And actually I think at the moment the prices for rarer Ti’s is pretty good because some of the people in this thread have decided to hunt them down, so there’s a bit more demand for the same amount of supply. I suspect there are always a few people who ruthlessly hunt down the rarer throws out there (I am one, having just traded above and beyond only last night to acquire something), but when the number rises only just a fraction so do prices.
So once again please accept my apologies as an honest miscalculation. But the fact that people like Midlifeyoyoman, RobK and TA have responded means that now there is a reasonable range of prices here which is the idea behind the thread. I think this thread is pretty useful on the whole, and it is all the better for having more people voice their opinions. It’s also great to see some of you guys who are or are becoming serious collectors post here. Oh and if you guys/gals happen to have a spare…
Oh. No apology needed but thank you . I was just curious as to what the number would be compared to what I was willing to pay. I paid $350ish and did so because I am on the hunt for every Ti I can get without any hassle/bargaining really. I don’t want to take it in the rear but at the same time feel like if someone has a Ti for sale and tells me what they want I will most likely just go ahead and finish the deal unless its just outrageous.
Off topic but recently sold a Nissan GTR for above the average selling price only to look the other day and see the exact same cars are now selling for over $10k more than when I sold mine. Just goes to show how limited products can still rise in price even in our modern era. It used to have to be an antique/classic but today you never know.
Yes like others stated it was a GTR not a GT-R3#. The R-30s are federally illegal to own even if are kit cars. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. There are some in the USA but if the Feds really wanted to get involved they could technically take the car in almost every case. There are some cars that are here with all the paperwork but not many.
The point is even in today’s modern age some things still go up in value. The GTRs went down in 2010-2011 pretty good for used ones but then they went back up quite a bit in 2012-2013. Some of the reason is that the newer ones cost a lot more than the first 2 years they were produced even tho the hp and tq numbers didn’t really go up because almost every owner has a Cobb tuning access port to customize the amount of power which allows the first gen models to have more power than the newer higher priced models. But the access port works on the newer models to up the numbers even further.
Wanted to note that if I had any mint ti throws I wanted to get rid of and saw this thread I would definately ask more than before. Tiphiter 2’s which were considered one of the best of the TI throws were considered spendy at $250 but I bet I could see one go for ridiculous prices these days
Also wanted to note that I still believe kyo’s TI throws are the coolest since he takes advantage of the properties to give it a specific tone since all the ones he’s produced have bell like shapes and banging titanium on stuff already makes a ringing noise. I don’t remember the particulars but I believe one of them is C# but he could probly elaborate more.
Well, until I land some more consulting gigs, I am slowing down my hunt until after I buy my jet skis. That said, the right Ti Walker at the right price might have my attention. I dumped a lot into Sovereign XIX. It is really a cool thing. Wish I could have gotten it at $200. Still need to pick up a Ricochet while they are available. I feel naked without my extra Aurora right now.
Thanks for detailing how those bids go on the BST. I like your strategy of the window of time given to accept or decline. I would use a similar strategy, as I hate waiting around for people to make decisions to sell or not. Chances are, after 12 hours, I will have my eye on buying something else anyway. You just want them to crap or get off the pot, so you can move on.
What are the peaks worth? And how many runs are there? I know some are sold for much more than the average so just aprox numbers for different runs to give me an idea.
And is there any big difference in the different runs as far as shape, weight, and play?
What is the difference in first run and OG? Sorry for all the questions but trying to figure out which peak to get for collection. There are quite a few on BST but don’t know how to tell difference in them.
Found a 20something page article of history of peaks. Quite interesting really. Makes me wonder how to truly know what I’m getting is what it’s advertised as.
