Yes, there will be another Top Deck run from One Drop

That’s amazing because powder coat also creates vibe.

@JEA86 sold me a gem of a top deck in sm a few years back that I can’t bring myself to throw anymore, I would love to add a thrower to my collection. I am in. @da5id any chance we see some fades?

I’ve stripped probably into the triple digits of yo-yos by now. The only times vibe was induced was when I was careless and did not mask the bearing seat. This has led me to believe chemical stripping itself when done correctly does not remove the surface layer unevenly enough to induce vibe. That thin layer when removed from the bearing seat however, is enough to throw off tolerances leading to vibe. You guys already understand the tight tolerances of the bearing seat of course.

On a different note, I still hope to see the M1 revived in 7075 with side effects . I’ll keep hoping, maybe one day! I think nostalgia can be a huge motivator for purchases, and the return of what was a lot of throwers’ first metal yo-yo would be well received in my opinion.

Anodizing can dull the polish a bit. I have clear coating powder coat options that may work better! Say thing as David said however, with a powder coat it’s not guaranteed it’ll be perfectly smooth as before, and grinds horribly.

I don’t care about grind capability, but that’s just me. One Drop has to appeal to its broader customer base, not just me, so I understand why they won’t do a polished aluminum finish.

FYI: I knew that powder-coating the VTWO was a gamble, but you did a spectacular job on it and I couldn’t be happier. It has an eggshell like texture which is just as bad for grinds as a polished finish, and I couldn’t care less. That powder-coated white VTWO is the pride of my entire collection.

Clear would be so sick. Put me down for a second Top Deck!

This thread is crazy, I remember starting this hobby and hearing quite a few remarks about this legendary “Top Deck” which was like a sort of unicorn had caused me to want one on impulse, only to be disappointed everywhere I looked. The fact that this thread has revived it is just, simply incredible and is one of the reasons why I adore this community.

This is exactly what I’ve been saying man… the demand for the Top Deck was REAL and has been for awhile. Some people didn’t wanna see it but at this point I’m just glad it can’t be denied and that it resulted in another run. Super stoked to pick up a clear as well so hopefully there’s A LOT of them.

The Top Deck is one of those One Drop models, along with the VTWO and the Kuntosh, that I feel deserve to be in production in perpetuity. They are that good, and I regard them as evergreen models.

Wow, this is turning into the thread of the year! +1 for a Top Deck for me, @da5id ! If you’re keeping track, one vote for engraving here (I don’t think I have a single OD with engraving unless you count the Summit). Love pretty much all the colors you guys do, but the splashes and multi-colors are bonus.

Right now we don’t have any anodizing option other than solid. Hopefully we get that solved soon …

If polished clear isn’t in the cards, then unengraved orange would be great!

i agree! and on a previous run of dioramas the mango one looked great as well. much as a good splash or wash is appreciated, solid colors have their own charm to them.
