Unfortunately all the people that were streaming it yesterday don’t have the videos posted anymore and I had to turn it off before 1A finals.
May be an unpopular opinion but if they are charging that much just for streaming maybe it’s time to give the players cash prizes.

Steve said that running the stream at all loses a significant amount of money, and that viewing passes would’ve needed to be 75-100 USD to break even.
Also cash prize pool seems unrelated to the cost of operating the stream. I’m not against cash prize pool fwiw.
the streams have been pretty high quality I will say. I’m curious what the largest expense is associated with live streaming. I’ve watched Kendama events in the past that will just run the stream through twitch.
Not sure where yoyomemes gets his information but he said they make 200k from worlds.
He’s not a great source but I would be shocked if they don’t make money.
Either way though, even if they are breaking even currently, just saying it would be nice.
I think they get like actual broadcast style licensing rights so they can stream the copyrighted music used in freestyles. Internet fees at venues could also be a huge source of cost.
It’s a good question though. Seeing actual figure breakdowns would be interesting. I’m very ignorant on the subject, I’ve just seen Steve and other event organizers yapping about this stuff on discord/socials.
Also another thing is that I believe for Worlds specifically, they hire an actual AV team/company to come setup, operate cameras, etc. Unlike a contest like US Nats where it’s a volunteer situation, they gotta hire a company and that staff has to get paid. If you’ve done events you know that this can get well above the $10k+ range, and that’s just for one day. Since this is a multiple day situation I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it was over $25k+ to have something on the level for what we got @ Worlds.
