Honest question: Isn’t making a yoyo a lot harder than you thought it would be? You can’t go crazy with the design becasue there needs to be a way to make it, It’s difficult to mentally picture what moving weight around will do to the final product (at least for me) but that’ll be up for discussion when you finish it, among other things like tracking down/finding everyone that is contributing to a phase of construction, etc.

Not really, the hardest part is finding bearings and getting a machinist. I would make a yoyo that looked like a duck if I wanted to, it would just cost a lot more.
Yes, because ducks aren’t cocentric. You’d need to do CNC work to do that 
. Speaking of, what bearings are you planning on using and what is the supplier?
I could still make a duck shaped yoyo I could find the center point and maybe make one that doesn’t vibe but I am using CNC why would I use anything other? I can’t tell you the supplier but they are really smooth and nothing no one else uses.
Please tell me this isn’t going to start a debate about a yoyo shaped like a duck…

And using CNC machining isnt an “of course” situation, I’ve hand turned yoyos that worked just fine. You just cant be lazy is all.
Except mass when making them, it’s not being lazy it’s being practical and precise.
