WTF² Cloudy Night

wow!!! that looks awesome!!

oh, and cameron, I’d be glad to review a proto, If you know what I mean

man, your straight. . . . . ;D ;D

This is really cool. Reminds me of the ILYY Noctu a little bit. I’d lov some updates when they come cause this could be promising.

Is everything being done out of your hands or are you actaully dong something other than design?

HOPEFULLY THE FINAL DESIGN!!!

Looks great! Wish I had some money right now though :frowning:

maybe navy blue, with a grey cloud in the middle?

As far as anno colors, why not black base with a white or light grey acid wash, I think it would give the apperance similar to the Black w/ green Acid Wash on the Primo, however you want it to look unique, why not have a midnight blue or purplish drizzle added, might give the appearance of lightning, idk just throwing some thoughts out there, though what I suggested might look appealing I think it might be expensive. :frowning: :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit: I dont know if it would be possible but maybe the blue with a cloud idea could work if the dye was applied by way of airbrush (if possible) to the throw before the anno is sealed this way the dye could set in a “fluffy” cloud type appearance  :stuck_out_tongue: ???

How many will be made? Cause I want to buy one, but I don’t have the money right now. BTW, it looks awesome!

Idk yet, I want 50 prepro because it casts a lot to make low amounts, and 100 productions.

I got skipped ::slight_smile:

What do you mean? Am I manufacturing? No I have a machinist to do that. Am I buying everything: boxes, labels, bearings, axels. Yes. Am I running the compony by myself. Yup. I hope thats what you asked.

Yeah that’s pretty much it. the reason I ask is because I have worked with many people (not necessarily yoyos) who have let things get out of hand by leaving essential things like production, marketing, and even design in the hands of others. By the time they were done, he owed more money than he gained, and couldn’t even claim the design as his own. Unfortunately “his” design flopped and never sold and he was left back at square one.

Now this is an extreme example, but I’d try to do as much yourself so you are actually involved. If it were me I’d be doing the whole thing myself or only working with people who I actually know so I can be involved with that process second hand. Luckily for me I have those resources, but this isn’t about me :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m not saying you’re doing anything wrong, I’m just talking

When it comes to creating a yoyo I would say start simple. When I turned my first yoyo I kept it extremely simple, so I knew that when it was done it would work because it was a tried and true design. I wouldn’t have started with an extreme design like this, because honestly, you’ll have no clue how well it plays and wether or not it was worth it. (EDIT: Another thing is a funky design like this could put off some people, like me. Who doesn’t like a classic butterfly shape?) Minor warning, but mostly still just talking  .

As for a finish, I’d say to keep it simple too. What annodizer are you sending this to? Does he know how to do all these fancy anno jobs like splash and wash? Rhetorical BTW, but still.

I want to see these around someday

-Pat!

I am getting a anodizer when I work out the kinks with the machining.

It’s not about getting an annodizer, it’s about getting one that does more than dip&done . I’m not sure if you can go to any annodizer and ask for a splash.

Not poking at you, but is the machining issue a problem with the design? If so, thats just another reason to start with something simple and leave the crazy designs for when you gain experience and know what can and cant be done.

Machining issues are cost issues and time issues so instead I made the yoyo simpler. And if you tell the anodizer how to do splash etc. he will try plus, you act like yoyos are the only things that get splashed.

Don’t recall saying that. paintball guns sometimes get splashed. I have skateboard trucks, and a bike fork, sprocket, and handlebars splash annodized

You miss read, I know yoyos are not the only thing getting splashes. But just about all anodizers should know how to do it.

Oh I know what you meant. I was just giving examples to show that I knew. But now we’re getting off topic
