After seeing that pic, it’s obvious that these two halves are dying to be butterflied. In the pic it’s hard to tell there’s a difference at all. You must have them so close.
Finally finished sanding on the red half. Got the shapes to match and worked it down to 22O grit. Probably a solid 6 hours of front porch hand sanding went into this red half and I enjoyed every minute.
Man that looks great!!
Those aren’t diamonds. Lol.
Surely it must be real gold though…right??
Doubt it. I think this is just a gold anodized yoyo with rhinestones glued onto it. The diamond in the center looks to be hot glued on with a toothpick. Im pretty sure this was all done publicity on social media.
Despite the reward for acceptance of this mission being ownership of the yoyo, and despite putting hours of work into restoring the yoyo, @TheThrowingGnome decided to return the Old Duncan to me.
As you can see, he also included a burlap bag, nice cotton string, and a Buckeye for good luck. I think it looks beautiful, and check out the gap, I can now play with this yoyo!
This yoyo is now a double gift, and I’ll be keeping it in my collection for good. Thank you @TheThrowingGnome for accepting this mission, and for then surprising me with it’s return.
That looks fantastic and was so nice of @TheThrowingGnome
Well done!
This is just completely awesome. The work was great but the thoughtfulness was priceless. This community is a small microcosm of consideration in a world filled with self satisfying people. Super fantastic job @TheThrowingGnome
Beautiful! And @TheThrowingGnome being a kind and generous soul is no surprise but always nice to see another example.
I’m glad you didn’t go with the “turn it into a Butterfly” route. I think it is perfect this way.
That’s awesome. I imagine the second that was purchased during this journey is also getting some love and will eventually get its own spotlight but maybe I’m misremembering earlier in this thread.
What a journey!
It looks so good! Great work @TheThrowingGnome!!!
Dude! I can’t get over the difference between the pics in OP and the finished project. You really did this thing justice @TheThrowingGnome! Sorry for tagging you twice back to back but I’m in awe. Bravo!
