Bearing shields are on par with running naked through a briar patch planted in loose legos.
But I keep them…I don’t know…to keep an eye on them?

I can’t stand running my bearings shielded and I will never. I SWEAR it plays differently without a shield, even though it probably makes no difference 
De-shielding is the FIRST thing I do when I get a new throw or new bearing.

I don’t know if I can tell between playing a shielded vs unshielded bearing, but the shields sure get in the way of cleaning, which I do constantly. I think I clean a bearing at least every other day so I need the shields off!
