What trick are you working on?

Working on another Alexis JV trick. This time, “A Star in Paris”, while also ensmoothening (yup, that’s a word even if I had to make it up) Trap Exit. Those new tutorials are pretty cool.

Hi, GregB! Haha!

I’m working on Yuuki Slacks.

Working on a couple things I found on the youtubes.
This: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vajW3UaKeh4
and this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2cfk948gOo

That first one is a bitch cause the yo-yo keeps binding while I’m doing the trick.

Zach Gormley’s tension hook via Alex Gallimore’s tutorial. Glad I got over my laziness enough to learn the mechanics of the trick because I love the way it looks.

skipping Koh’s BtBH thingy for now btw. guess i cant go very far after all without first getting my basic TH-side BtBH maneuvers smooth.

I have practiced this since that tutorial first dropped and I’m still inconsistent with it. Plus, when I get into a “consistency” zone, I’m in a reverse trapeze, not a normal trapeze. I mean, I can work with that as long as I get it consistent, but that part’s still eluding me.

That is how I feel about lassos. I have worked on trying to get them consistent for a while now. I have gotten more consistent, but at this point I wonder if it will always feel sort of like a hail Mary that I have brief periods of success with.

“Follow into Dat Triangle” (listed in Cabin Tutorials as “Follow Dat Triangle Whip”) was kinda hail Mary-ish, but I’m finally feeling I have the feel for it.

Maybe these other tricks will get there some day… hahaha!

I have not learned that one yet. It looks difficult! So many of those cabin tutorial tricks are intimidating.

I found a much easier way into the mount for the tension hook, so it makes repetition of the actual tension hook part occur at a much higher rate. Basically double or nothing, then double back onto the string over your throw hand. Wa-lah! I still like the way Alex taught, but that mount is the hardest part of the trick for me right now so it is nice to have options.

THANK YOU SO MUCH

Haha, alas, I didn’t mention that’s how I ALWAYS get there and I’m still inconsistent at the tension whip part. Haha. GREAT pointer, though… I actually forgot there was a first part to that trick.

Boingy Boing! I can’t seem to get the bounce going.

Thanks!

I worded that poorly. I am still pretty inconsistent with both parts and sometimes end up in that reverse trapeze as well!

I’ve gotten more consistent with the tension whip and thought I’d share what has helped me.

When you pull your TH away to whip the string, put your NTH pointer finger close to the yoyo, and not too far forward. When you push your finger too far forward, it causes the back segment of the loop to catch the yoyo which puts you in the reverse trapeze. The purpose of keeping your NTH pointer finger close to the yoyo is so that if your string twists due to tension or inaccurate whipping, it won’t matter (as much).

I shall try to put this into motion.

EFing spirit bomb, Im a bit novice still but i havn’t been stuck on a trick for so long.
