What trick are you working on? 2025

Working on some 5a stuff and got like half of colins second trick in the dkim vs becko vid figured out but there are like two elements of it that are like hella hard and new to me. The rest is just hard lol

@Gurggis was trying to teach me how to do a 1.0 hook on Saturday, and I was finally able to land a few today!

I’ve been working on many tricks or combos but the one I’m currently most proud of is I finally understand and can land the beefhook consitently. @GTDropKnot was essential in helping me with this, I appreciate the tips. I looked back on when I asked about the beefhook in the pre 2025 thread (7 months ago) many many times and the one thing that I kept ignoring was pulling my nth thumb back towards me, once I finally started getting that down, I started landing them. One of the easiest set ups but so hard to accurately execute. If anyone is currently trying to learn this, don’t ignore how important that part of the trick is. The rest is all muscle memory and timing.

For current tricks - I’ve been going through Jacob Gross’s tutorial playlist and knocking those out one at a time. Circus Rings is one I really love to do, it’s become my warm up but I fused it together with a combo I learned from Yoyowen, to make it a longer combo.

I’ve been working on Supercharger, Spirit Bomb, and Beeefhook. I’ll keep working on them but I got real consistent with Triple or Nothing so I started working on Black Hops @GTDropKnot
It’s quite a fun trick. Every time you do it is a challenge. I did pretty good right off. I’ve gotten as far as the last hop and missed. Now I’m determined to get good at it because it’s really fun.

Then from trapeze i can do 2 undercuts but never get the 3rd.
My time will come

I’m sure that The World’s Greatest Fry Cook could pull it off every time.

Beefhook is now on my list, and I need to relearn Skin the Gerbil. Apparently I learned it wrong!

You boiled the skin off… didn’t you???

I’ve mainly been polishing a “combo” of Matrix, repeat > cold fusion > Skin the gerbil.

It’s been really interesting seeing which throws make it through with ease and which others struggle to keep speed/ stability. Leaf and BrExia, Kamuraiju are the top 3 champions of this combo

I’ve also been goofing around with some 5A experimentation with the few elements I know of. My favorite combo has been taking 1a “flashy double GT” and then passing the CW to NTH to reveal a backwards GT, then 360ing that, hop out to backwards trapeze and then switch back to trap, or do a left handed bind. The 360 GT looks so cool imo, I’m excited to get it on film soon

Best tut:

Should be the only, as far as I’m concerned, but I’m a big doc fan lol

He breaks it down into chapters, which you can put on repeat to really lock down each step. I wish every tutorial had this layout

Im currently stuck on Seasick, Revolution and Blackhops…haven’t landed once even..latest trick I’ve learned is President’s Bind by Vashek Kroutil. Alot like Buddha’s Revenge..also just started Lacerations and Suicides..currently my favorite throws are Onedrop’s Wyvern monometal, exit8 bimetal and Hybrid Fulvia..not so into the Tornado Bind, but I do need to start my grinds..been playing for almost 2 years, after a 30 years dry spell on the Skilladdicts app..thx and Goodluck..!

You can just unroll around th and then around both hands into 1.5. There isn’t really a standard beefhook dismount I can think of. That one is easy and can set up a ton of other stuff.

This is so helpful. I have been working on Skin the Gerbil with the individual moves, but I need to get the smooth flow down.
