I run all of my 1A and 5A bearings dry. I remove the shields,
clean with mineral spirits, dry them as best i can and install.
Any lube you use will add some amount of resistance/ friction and will add to responsiveness.
When they get noisy or the string starts to bind in its own, i repeat the above process.
I have used a fraction of a drop of lube on occasion if i feel like the bearing needs it but that is applied with the head of a pin and is very sparingly applied.

It did not become responsive or bind when I didn’t want it to. Some yoyos just have more UMPF! than others. I tend to gravitate towards yoyos that just keep chugging even when I get a bit sloppy despite trying my hardest not to be sloppy. Years into this and I am aware of my limitations and what yoyos kind of pick up the slack when my overall coordination and skill level hit a wall. It’s just for fun and I’m way better than I EVER thought I’d be.
One more question. Do you think the bearing posts are short enough to put a half-spec C bearing in the Krapfen?
I just checked and yup, half specs are a go. The bearing posts are very short, so half specs are super easy to remove as well. The default axle is 12mm, so you’ll want to have a 10mm axle handy.
Gonna throw these over the weekend. I have had a few Panos and Slim Dunks, but never at the same time. Got one of each in color ways that I dig. I only have room on the shelf for one slim organic, gonna see which one sticks.
that thing is patina-ing beautifully
i need me one of these
I have been experimenting with some ways to speed up the patina process. We’re probably going to do some nickel waves for retail and I want them to look super haggard before they ship haha.
I’m happy with how this Slappa turned out but I have a few more tricks up my sleeve that might yield a more dramatic finish.
Don’t want to reveal too much about the process because I haven’t seen it done on a retail yo-yo, I want those waves to stand out when we release them.
if you do those abused nickel waves, can you please remember to save one for this random forum goer who you have no association with? =]
Every time I see a photo of one of these I want one.
You may take my money now for that
