I have been throwing this cedar bloodcell this week. Its light and has great response, a little tricky to pull start but I think I got it down.

I also have a Wildwood Crop Circle arriving today! Got a weekender 2 weeks ago. I’ve really been enjoying responsive play and pull starts lately.

It’s probably a bit obvious from looking at it, but if you have enough fingernail length to not get any normal finger contact on the yoyo it pull starts insanely well. I’d had a couple of wood yoyos intended to pull start, and that BC was the only one that I felt like had a snappy enough response combined deep enough groove to get secure and strong pull starts on.

The Wildwood Crop Circle seems really good though, but I just haven’t had any interest in playing responsive any more :pensive:

Yes i know what you’re saying! While my finger nails are a bit short, I can lightly hold it and get enough spin to respond and hop into a stall or regen. Practicing on the blood cell helped me improve my pull starts on the knack too. Thanks much for the bloodcell!

Wow, that’s a crisp picture! Does your phone have a macro lens or is that a “real” camera?

Its just the normal lens on an iphone 11. A couple things i try to do to help produce a descent pic is to:

  1. use a white background (i.e. printer paper), and rest it against something (xbox controller) so it curves upward
  2. pull my lamp close to get good lighting
  3. dont put the camera too close to the yoyo, zoom in a little (i think this can help a lot)
