That Twilight Phantom is good, I’ve got the same thing but haven’t been able play it like I want to
What is the finish like on the SS ring on the overdrive draupnir? Is it just me or they look matted.
Well, I’m not sure exactly what is in this package but I got some educated guesses
these yo yo factory fellows really ought to work on packages with proper labels if you ask me
Love that dipped deepstate
Im all about simplicity but dang, a name or something.
Never realised i may sexually identify as a yoyo… i wonder why we dont see more matte finish on outer SS ring designs, perhaps they are very susceptible to superficial damage?
Now that’s meta…some phone Virgil Abloh
It’s probably because of a few reasons:
-
Shiny rims contrast well with a bead blasted main body so it typically provides some texture and visual interest.
-
There’s not a ton of performance benefit to blasting the outer rims unless you are grinding the yoyos rims.
-
It costs more to blast the rims and its harder because you probably wouldn’t use the same blast media as the body due to the relative softness of aluminum vs. steel.
Personally I think I might have liked a somewhat different texture to the rims. They appear to be tumbled, but I would have preferred polished or plated. It’s my only nit about the yoyo; the rims (to me) appear a little visually flat. Here’s a quick write up review:
I’m probably not skilled enough to give a good review, so I’ll just make a few statements about first impressions. It’s stubbornly stable, which is awesome. You can throw it straight and it will lock into the plane of spin. It feels powerful when you throw it, but it’s not too heavy. Not the floatiest yoyo, but agile, like you’d expect a competitive yoyo to play. Plays fast and light. I’m scared to damage it, it’s so pretty. The rose gold rims are matte and a little less pretty than I expected them to be, but the whole package is really beautiful. I thought the rims would have more of a sheen like the body, but they’re flatter in color. Dead dead smooth, you can fingernail test it and there’s no vibe at all.
The whole yoyo screams high end, feels expensive, performs great. I don’t typically buy competitive yoyos as I tend to prefer organics and specific aesthetics, but I went out of my way to pick this up and don’t regret it at all.
Seems properly labeled to me. It says yo-yo right?
He’s bad about hogging the controller though.
I like that controller. Great color.
