Wow! He did an amazing clean up on that. It looks FANTASTIC!!!
I let out an audible gasp as I rolled down the page.
The doc knows how to operate.
Mmmmm I canât wait to try one if thoseâŚor your PC Knack for that matterâŚthe Cloudberry looks sexy AF.
Let us know what you think ![]()
Nothing that a couple of buffing wheels and the right compounds canât cure in a jiffy.
Most interesting thing(to me) about your comment>
I used no buffing wheel and no compounds in the process of restoring the finish on that Citizen.
I think a more accurate statement would have been, âAnything is easy if you know howâ.
Within the scope of my modding potential, I never consider âfixing things in a jiffyâ.
I use whatever time it takes to do things correctly.
! finally! : )
Hey everybody⌠thanks for all the likes.
Normally I take more images: before, during and after, mods⌠But i have been so busy that I only took several random shots.
I will post several that give contrast to the âway in/way out appearance.
Then this view is a little more shows the scale of comparison even better.
PS⌠that 3rd image is actually the one half semi finished/screwed to the unfinished half⌠just as a reference to see where I was at?
I didnât even think about it before I posted that particular image up, lol.
Great work! Did you use a lathe with a buffer attached? Iâve seen it being done with a drill press before.
Different materials and different levels of FUBAR often require different procedures.
I personally donât âbuffâ titanium. Itâs possible⌠but I find it a waste of time.
Natesâ Citizen was sparked pretty good before he bought it.
The problem with âsparkedâ yoyos is that you canât get to the bottom of the gouges without removing some serious material and literally changing the weight of the yo-yo. < Useless option.
With this yo-yo, the primary objective was to âincrease the beauty factor and reduce the ugly factorâ. To remove as little Ti as possible in the process of bringing back the beauty of the yo-yo.
That is one of the greatest things of me doing this stuff for FREE.
People can lower their expectations and not worry about getting their moneysâ worth. Because it isnât costing them anything, lol.
And then they can be pleasantly surprised when they get better results than they may have even been expectingđł
Kinda crazy that I put myself under pressure to make somebody else happy.
This is a good example. I ask a guy to send me his $300 One Drop yoyo. So I can rejuvenate it for nothing. It could get lost in the mail coming to me. It can get lost on the way back. It can fly off the lathe while spinning at high speed and then I have jacked up someoneâsâ yo-yo accidentally while in the process of trying to fix it?
But, I like the âmissionâ. I like the challenge. I like to help people generate a âWowâ now and then and have their throwing energy recharged.
We all take turns trying to help each other. And we all pretty much go about it in different ways.
There are several guys on this forum that are fully capable of doing what I did. I just happened to do this one.
I donât have the time to do mods for everybody.
I just pick out things that seem to call out to me. I saw Natesâ beat up Citizen and immediately knew I wanted to do good things to it.
It probably helps that I have my own machine shop. Doesnât hurt for sure.
But no matter what tools you have at your disposal. If you donât know what you are doingâŚ?
Fortunately, I have been around the block a few times.
I find climbing hills a lot more rewarding than just walking on flat groundâŚ
And⌠everybody is happy.
Nate is happy. You guys are happy to see a cool restoration. And I am happy that you guys appreciate my effort.
Happy is goodâŚ
It turned out great. You did a good.
How does this SB-2 play? I know itâs the Ti edition.
When played with the C-size bearing, itâs a completely legit 1A yoyo with respect to modern standards.
I canât speak for the responsive âmodesâ because I suck at that. ![]()
Is that a new SB-2 (not the Ti version) from Tomâs site? How does it play ? Is it a satisfying responsive play?
No itâs one from 199, a SB-2.2. However I believe the ones currently sold are still the same SB-2.2.
Personally, I love the way it plays. I havenât messed with the gapping much, but its very smooth and responsive but still gives you some spin time if you want.
Now dont be criticizing my photography when i havnt had a mail day in a while. To top it offâŚtodayâs mail day was loaded so im stringing up these bad boys right away!
Xmas 888âŚmmmmmmm.
