Congratulations! You have a Sumo in the very rare orange color (which was supposed to be the standard color but gave a lot of problems) and with the font of the initial writing, you have a very very rare object!
Do you notice the differences with mine? (which is not a standard Sumo … And it is a unique piece)
Later I post a group photo of my Sumos
Yeah it looks more like a plugin. How’s it play compared to the original?
They look like 2 different yos to me. Not just all the differences with the etchings…but the rims of yours have a flat spot where the one of Joe’s doesn’t. Also the cups are slightly different (yours is smoother, where Joe’s has some…ripples (haha no idea what word to use here).
Did niubu start parting out more of his collection?
Niubi sold many things years ago, but this does not come from him, he comes from an Italian collector who in 2011 took it from another collector in Belgium (the same one who sold me my Wyyc2007).
There are several prototypes with reduced weight of the Sumo and they generally have a weight ranging from 64 to 65 grams.
This is a unique piece and has a weight of only 58.5 grams (9 less than the standard), has a more tapered hub, a thinner shell interior and above all less thick and flattened rims on the outside. (@twitch77 has an excellent eye!!!)
For this reason the writings have been integrated into the graphics … These are the only two shells on which these graphics have been engraved.
Lastly, this yoyo was used as an anodization test for the Wyyc2007 gold color.
Cool facts on this! Also you reminded me of the sumo I got at the world yoyo contest back in 2007.
Love the color of that Banshee!
Sorry, I didn’t answer you about this.
I still don’t know honestly, the courier delivered it to me a few minutes before I left work and I just got back.
I have to replace the silicone, the one present is very hardened and the yoyo has a bad return.
However, it has very long rotation times and its weight does not seem to be so low.
In the next few days I will have clearer ideas.
(Gold - Proto light - WYYC 2007)
P.S. A Sumo identical to yours, Takeshi Kamisato has it
That far right
jeeez @AaronW, took you long enough!
I only look at this once a week
@gsimian g-string finally made it to me and a new Patagonia r5
Is the play as legendary as I hear?
I’ve barely gotten to play with it, but so far I am enjoying it. Feels like it needs some breaking in but it handles what I have thrown at it so far alright. Like my Lyn Fury, it does require a bit more finesse than today’s yos but I view it as a challenge to refine my technique. All in all glad I got it and looking forward to getting in more time with it.
DelValle and @hobbygod are my 2 favorite throwers. I could watch them all day and be completely mesmerized. They’ve both got so much power and control and smoothness…it’s ridiculous lol.
I love my FYFO. It’s silk…sprayed with Pam…dipped in butter…and marinated in oil.
@gsimian The g-string made it through the mail and has finally arrived. First time buying/trying non-bulk string.
