You may have just changed my mind on how I feel about polished. Those look incredible.
Plays really really good.
Very similar to the TISS.
I may be biased as I have been a fan of Jeffery for a long time. I wouldnât say its my style for shape, but it looks killer and plays better.
how you like the ultima? Havenât seen any write-ups on it
It can be super zippy that I donât really do, but also can do whatever speed youâre into.
I come from older heavier yoyoâs like the OG peak or Ernies Essence, even heavy cream.
Itâs like the perfect weight.
Those are just my initial impressions. I need to play it for a while to really get used to it.
Very cool man! ![]()
Have you thrown the Butterfly AL? Whatâs your thoughts?
The aluminum Butterfly is trash. Itâs like a Sherpa without the emptiness, doesnât feel hollow like the Sherpa and doesnât play as well as it either. The finish is nice but not so nice on the graphics (is that a sticker?). Itâs got good weight and spins smooth.
Iâd put those throws in this order best to worst:
NextGen
Butterfly XT
Tourney
BigFun
Butterfly Al
Ive seen too much negativity about the Butterfly Al to be hyped for it anymore. I imagine that it was just a lazy metal replica of the plastic for collectors only.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I was super tempted to grab one. When you get more time with it, please post your further impressions.
Well dang. This makes me legit sad :(. I really wanted to like the ALâŚbut youâre not the only one Iâve heard thatâs not happy with it.
@eternalmetal is right, basically a lazy metal replica. Iâm not disappointed, I expected it to not be a performer. I love the idea and the presentation,. Maybe with a half spec or a KK/center track this might transform into something more special. I think the bigger disappointment is actually the Tourney. Yet again I do like it, I just expected a better performer instead Iâm a whole lot of unimpressed. Love the throwback look of it and the box is fit to bury the family cockatiel or hamster.
I know this all reads negatively, Iâm actually quite happy with the purchases still as Iâm more a collector than anything else and they are all beautiful and invoke a ton of nostalgia.
Stunning!! I remember the Alien Galaxy Hype so had to grab a Shutter, has a couple marks and a couple pinpricks, paid $40 shipped I think.
Iâm sure yours holds up to mine, where can you get bgrade Alien Galaxy Colorways?? I have always wanted to get more.
Sorry if personal question but what did it set you back?.
$40?
Is that a Wasabi 08 or 09?
Either way super jelly as itâs my fav ilyy and honestly just as smooth as my mint Saskatoon Blizzard 7075 Chief.
I paid $50 for the Wasabi, not bad huh mint.
Still if itâs an 08 Iâm super Jelly never got to throw one and itâs super duper undersized.
08 09, mint or not msg me and I would love to give you a great trade as an ILYY collectoe
I really need to find someone willing to sell me one of those freebie green butterflies!
Thatâs a 2WEI 2019. Itâs my first ILYY and IL it!
Hey man!
Itâs Bryan and I work for Duncan ( I feel like I have to introduce myself, - ha!).
Itâs unfortunate that you didnât like it! Iâve gotten a lot of feed back after the release, but before I go through the list, I want to tell you and everyone the design process:
Iâm a big fan of responsive yo-yos, I grew up in 2003 era, and stopped playing responsive around 2010. So itâs a thing that hyped me up after seeing modern responsive becoming a thing. When we designed the Butterfly AL, we had light and heavy prototype; the lighter version doesnât spin well, and we cannot put longer axle, but will play closer to any metal responsive metals out there. The heavier version is close to the production, but we changed the edges, and we made the cap thinner. Overall, this made it more durable (10mm axle) + longer spin times.
NOTE: It takes at least an hour of play to adjust on heavier responsive metals.
A lot of people are really skeptical for bearing C Butterfly AL, until they set-up the yo-yos with their own liking:
Slim bearing C - if you like fixed axle tricks, this is their go to.
Default Set- up - add looping oil or thick oil.
Other opinions, release a bearing A version.
Overall, I learned that modern responsive market is a cut-throat. Youâll hear a lot of opinions because we have different liking and set-up. Fortunately, there are so many variations for this throw, here are some:
Bearing C : Thin/thick pads + responsive flat, thin/thin pads + responsive flat bearing, thick/thick pads + KK bearing, think/thick pads + KK lubed bearing
Half Spec C: thin/think pads + KK lubed bearing.

Half Spec Bearings
@bjardin I actually really like the Butterfly but I donât think it plays well, I have only played it stock. I did pick up a half spec bearing and a mod kit to customize my experience. Could you share the production numbers of all the Stuff you had at Worlds.
We produced 50 Silver and 50 Red, but I gave away close to 17-20 pcs to team. Pretty much all yo-yos we had there is 50 each color.
The Freehand and Big Fun bundle are 100 each characters.
Is that an edgeless?
