What did you get in the mail, 2023

Mistakenly posted this in the “what are you throwing today thread” first instead of here… but the D7 has landed! Have wanted one of these things for awhile.

Feels like throwing air after exclusively using my Palp ES the past couple of days. Great change of pace! While the shape is one of my favorites on an organic in awhile, this thing would be absolutely GOATED with an extra gram or two, which is why I’m gonna keep my eyes open for a Diptych or Canvas.

LOVE the yoyo too, highly recommend if you’re looking for some responsive Ti in your life

Come on, I don’t need that kind of temptation lol

my ONLY complaint right at the moment is it feels a little bit inconsistent, and has a smidge too much kickback for my taste. the response is a recessed silicone, and i’m guessing the recess has something to do with both of those issues, artificually opening the gap for more kickback, and causing a little bit of slip on some returns.

regardless its an awesome yoyo. ive got some pads coming to hopefully find a response set up that allows me to shoot the moon more consistently (it STM’s real nice but sometimes the inconsistency and extra kickback cause some wonky moons lol).

i would say its in between the weekender and 2023 aluminum butterfly in regards to kickback/response reliability. the weekender on the side of perfect snappy response and kickback, and the 2023 aluminum buttefly being too slippy and way too much kickback.

Do you have the bearing lubed?

i always use thick lube, i even have a standard flat bearing in this one instead of the centertrac

Hmm interesting. Regular size or half spec? Does it even fit a half spec?

it uses an a-bearing, not c.

edit: based on the bearing posts, a slim a-bearing likely wont fit

Oooo may I ask what you traded for such a beauty?
I silicone grease both bearing seats on my confusion for maximum snappiness, and I love it.

I traded the yoyofriends mini ti prototype! Very nice trade tbh. this confusion is not mint, and i couldnt be happier with it lol. its been refinished but there are still some clear sparking scars on the rims lol

i gave up on silicone grease a long time ago, makes things snappy but also sacrifices a ton of spin, hoping i can get the kickback down and reliability up with the right combination of thin and thick pads.

i use thick lube and very much prefer the extra spin time it gives me at the expense of some snappiness on the response. definitely requires more of a tug, but as long as the response is predictable and reliable (the two key words) i’m much happier than a snappy response with low spin

This came in the mail this afternoon, I got it from @tysnj.
Great guy to do business with. This is my second Layer Infinity Kasm and I couldn’t be happier. The picture is his, I haven’t had time to take one of my own yet.

Rain City Skills prize from the Fixed Axle February drawing arrived. A puzzle, a coloring book, and a sampler of various fixies.

I only recognize the Lightning, but one of them looks to be a Tiger E-Yo. Not positive about the others.

Edit: I guess the red one is probably also a BC Lightning?

Received this in the mail yesterday from @nightshadow, I was so curious about this yoyo from quite long time, the price was incredibly good so why not, also super recommended seller, the parcel arrived perfect and the yoyo is exactly as describe!

Play with it couple of hours and I found it a very fun yoyo, I like the sound of the wind when you throw it and it seems that the rims and the centre of the yoyo are separated while playing, the design is so cool and for sure something that I never had before.

I would not recommend to do grinds with it as the sides kind of rub with your skin and is unpleasant but it is a good player in general, nice in horizontal and very good for string tricks, nice rotation time, nothing impressive but a good spin time, you have to be a bit careful when doing tricks to do not let your hand rub on the inside of the yoyo or it kind of get “catched” in the empty areas, I found it quite stable and overall a good yoyo when I want to play with something different, quite satisfied about this purchase also all my friends where impressed by it while it spin, it is a very cool effect lol
