This is best thread in all of the yoyo community combined, zero drama and everyone just talking yoyos
I got a yo-yo that I normally wouldn’t be interested in because of its construction. I’ve never really been a fan of metal yo-yos with metal side caps. And this particular one appealed even less to me For a few obvious reasons. No grind rings and no finger spin dimple. Actually… thumb grinds and finger spins were no big deal to me. Interestingly and amusing to me is now that I can do some grinds and Finger spins, all of a sudden, I like those features, in a yo-yo, L O L
This particular yo-yo fascinated me, because in the write up, it said they prototyped it for two years Before they start making them.
Now… When you really think about it, the amount of time somebody says they spend on something can go one way or the other, and the listener thinks it out.
For example, if a guy tells you, he spent two years carving a statue out of a tree trunk, you would think wow there’s a lot of work that guy did.
And if a guy says he just spent two years turning 55 Chevy into a hot rod. You will probably think that the guy really went over everything… The engine, the transmission rear, end, the wheels, the brakes, the interior, the paint job, etc. But it is possible that it took that guy two years because he didn’t do a damn thing about building a hot rod so he struggled for two years to get it right🙀.
If a guy says it took him two years to climb a mountain. You’re probably thinking man that must’ve been one steep big old mountain? And then you find out the guy only climbed at night and had no arms, and your view of his accomplishment is altered dramatically.
When I read the write up on the Motif, and they said it took them two years of prototyping before they started making them, I thought, there are two options here: First they spent two years fine-tuning the yo-yo to get it perfect. Second, they struggled for two years until they got it right, lol.
So…. It took them two years to get the design, right… And it has no ring or center dimple.
I took the plunge anyway. Geez, Louise this sucker is really good. Maybe I’m fooled slightly, Because I’m not really an advanced yo-yo player.
But I’ve had it a few days now, and this thing is a real winner.
PS. The two yo-yos, I’m using a stands, for the pictures are Circle city Odiums. And I don’t hesitate to say that the odium is probably the best yo-yo that you’ve never tried. Nuff said on that.
Not really in the mail, but a disc golf buddy stopped over and gave me this. It was his throw as a kid.
I have had this purple Freehand for about a week. It is an incredible throw. It is now one of my favorites. I keep it and an RBC on my desk, alternating between the two.
PS. If I had known that it was an ad for Spongebob Square Pants, I would have ordered a different color…
I keep eyeing that freehand 2 it keeps calling to me. It might have to pull the trigger.
You’re probably just making a joke but in case you weren’t that’s a freehand counterweight on the yo-yo:
Taking a break during set up at the CFX Expo with my responsive Jackal. Today is a beautiful day, new personal shoot the moon record of 101!!
DaVinci is an absolute PLAYER! I have 2.
It really is!
Very Nice stuff guys
I got this original hubstacked project one the other day at yoyoclub…its in perfect condition too! but in all honesty how the heck is this thing still so smooth playing? Onedrop even said they are gonna send me the original hex nut so i can take the stacks off and have it OG
It may be beat but i absolutely adore this specific project very much. My buddy who was a founding member of the ditch down crew blessed me with this and ill keep it forever.
Projects are like, notoriously durable and hard to mess up. Sick piece of history!
Got this dis anima a couple days ago and can’t put it down. The hype is 1000% real. Stoked to have this one🙌
Dear god I got one but have to wait for it to ship to Aus… it looks even better than I’d hoped.
Pictures don’t do it justice at all and the unboxing experience is insane! Glad to see a fellow zoo member
Nothing crazy I’ve been off not spending for a little but did get a gift from @Billipo
Threw some old flight spacers I had laying around in and just need to find a screw long enough cause I thought I had one but can’t find it to save my life.
It’ll be fun tinkering with these in a few throws like my xt and proz and I have a few others I might try if I get a moment.
Thanks again
I remember that thing. Chuckle.
They arrived and it’s fantastic.
Purple axl, blue axl elite and my old axlerator up in the corner.
Also dug out one of my old custom barrels (this might be one of my newer ones actually) from paintball I swear I have a regulator but maybe my brother took it. Either way my gear when I take it to the field is always called antique when I show up.
Eventually I’ll go for a chain reactor and reactor but bigger fish to fry for now. I wonder how many more people have reached out to Logan since I ordered.
