What did you get in the mail, 2023

Wow that proto looks really neat. Very cool. Curious how that plays.

I had this Duncan utility pouch in my cart a year ago but they sold out before I checked out. Then I found it elsewhere only to have them email me the next day that they too were out. So its been a long wait. Then the Evan Blast to add to my 720 stable.

I’ve said in the past that I had received the mail day to end all mail days, or something to that effect lol. That day I had gotten 1 custom yoyo. How naive I was, I wasn’t aware it was possible to receive TWO custom yoyos on the same day!!

Custom AL7 Mongoose and AL7 Carbine. So incredibly stoked on these two!

Did this ever show up? :disappointed_relieved:

No, unfortunately. Got in contact with USPS which assured me the GPS location of the truck was right outside my work when the package was scanned. Sat and panned through ~4 hours of security footage around the delivery time and never saw a truck or a postman drop off the package. The good news is that it probably wasn’t left in the building lobby and stolen. The bad news is nobody knows where it is. Obviously we can put in a claim and be compensated for the value of the package but most of those yos are irreplaceable, and the prototypes need a ton of lead time and money to be reproduced.

Hoping it was delivered to a wrong address and a decent human being returns it to USPS, but I’ve gone into just about every door/business on my block and asked about about it.

That is a huge bummer. I really hope it resolves itself soon…

Dang Brandon. You win. Just as you keep repeating a phrase I’m going to throw out “those are the prettiest yoyos I’ve ever seen”. Where in the world do you go from there. Every yoyo you see is just going to be blah.
Good on you,
Tommy

Have had a rough couple days tbh… not to bring the heaviness here as well, but basically I found out my grandmother passed and it’s been tough on my entire family and I since we were close. I got this amazing BvM a couple days ago, but never really got the chance to fully appreciate it until late last night cause of everything going on. But damn, it’s quite the throw (and a bit of a “pick me up”).

Wolverine BvM, totally mint (and surprisingly super smooth!)

My first CLYW ever was a wolverine Wooly Marmot I copped back in 2011 or so here on the forums. At the time I thought the colorway was whatever, but it has since grown on me, and has become somewhat nostalgic for me over time. So when I saw @ConnorWilkerson’s BvM up for sale, I knew it’d be right at home right next to my Wolverine Marmot. Here she is baby:

Here it is next to its Marmot brother. You can see the blast on the BvM is much more matte looking, and a bit more saturated. The appearance difference in the two feels almost like the BvM was done by hand and the Marmot was done by a machine or something. I don’t necessarily prefer one over the other, but the blast is much more old school and “chalkier” on the BvM, as opposed to the super fine finish of the WM.

The BvM is an important yoyo in history, as (from what I recall) it’s the first “mass-produced” metal yoyo to receive a splash finish. I’m fairly confident that the Wolverine wasn’t part of the first run of these and came later, but it’s cool to have the yoyo that started a huge trend and something that’s pretty standard now.

As far as play, I’m pretty impressed. It doesn’t feel like 68g, but it does have a very satisfying heft to it, that makes the Marmot (which didn’t previously feel weird or too light to me) feel… kinda weird and too light lol. And like I said, it’s impressively smooth which is uncharacteristic of early CLYW throws. Throwing it is totally a nostalgic trip that puts me into the zone of when I first started throwing. It’s funny b/c the first CLYW I actually used was a BvM at Nationals in 09, I think it was either an OgoPogo or a Wolverine. Would be crazy if this was somehow that one. Have wanted one for a long time so I’m super glad I finally got one of these things.

I’m sorry to hear about your grandmother passing on, it can be a difficult time. And nice throws

Making me miss it already. From the pics and the write-up, I know it’s in good hands. Enjoy! Cheers

Appreciate that Tommy! They came out so good! Love the contrast between the pink and blue in the acidwash.

Feels like a cotton candy galaxy lol

Gravity and extra extras from @sloegoe. Have the weight rings and brass ultra lites under the caps. I prefer the concave profile of the FHNG caps over the others so far.
