I think I understand why 1July is a thing now. Many seem to feel that it’s not worth it to go a whole month with just one yoyo, and if they have done it they don’t plan on ever doing it again. I’m not saying I enjoyed it, but it did teach me a few things.
One is that 1July is actually an equalizer, as well as a reminder of where we came from. No matter how many yoyos you have now or how good you are at yoyoing, we all started with just one yoyo. I really like that, especially considering that the yoyo I used for July was the one that has taken me the furthest.
Secondly, going with one yoyo for a whole month has reminded me of how grateful I am to actually have a yoyo, let alone a small collection. On August 1st, it’s almost like having another mail day, rediscovering why you like each yoyo in your collection.
So of course, over the last few days, I’ve given my other throws some much needed attention.
