I’m throwing about everything I have tonight.

I’m surprised how much the Onedrop Intro stands out to me. Organic shape, dirt cheap, clean machining and premium feel, beautiful colors, stable, perfect weight and durable pyramatte finish.

This thing is amazing. Ive had a Nitro before and while I really love them both, I think I’m a fan of the 6061. It feels softer? Maybe that’s stupid to say, but it’s the words that came to me. Props to onedrop.

I had a really nice SM Intro, sometimes I miss it but then I’m glad it went to someone who was actively seeking it out at the time. Really great little yoyo, and it is the perfect introduction to the One Drop brand. It was my first, and now they’re 1/3 to 1/2 of my collection lol

Yeah, they really are a great company, and have really done wonders for us yoyoers. They played a strong hand in making yoyos affordable. They introduced the world to side effects.

I think the only thing I’d prefer is if they soda blasted all of their stuff rather than pyramatte, but I’m likely in the minority there, and it’s by no means a deal breaker.

While I know it doesn’t matter geographically where a yoyo is made, because it’s machined metal however you look at it on this big spinning rock we call earth; their yoyos just seem to have a differentiating feel to them. Maybe it’s in my brain, but I just feel that way. Doesn’t mean I don’t buy yoyos made all around the world, just a personal observation.

I agree in full that One Drop yoyos just “feel” different. Obviously the design of the yoyo is incredibly important, but I do think part of that is the machinist and the stock that they use. One Drop does use all american made aluminum stock too. I certainly feel good supporting American manufacturing from material to finished good when I buy One Drop.

I think to an extent it does matter. Not in the context of how a yoyo plays, but in how you perceive a company. The fact Japan Technology does the machining all of their high end yoyos themselves in Japan matters to me, in the same way One Drop fans love that they’re doing their stuff in the states.

It shows that they care deeply about quality and are extremely picky about the process. They could outsource it to China for cheaper (Japan Tech does this for their entry level models to make the prices more affordable/accessible), but these companies choose to forgo the cheaper option to make sure they’re putting out as high quality of a product as possible, even if it comes at the expense of the price. One Drop is even better in a way with how they’re able to achieve such cheap prices while staying domestic. The fact they don’t have to choose between high quality or a low price is super cool.

As an aside though I love Chinese made yoyos and there’s nothing wrong with companies who go this route. C3 is hands down one of my favorite companies, and I love my modern CLYW. It’s top quality stuff at affordable prices. So I’m not faulting any other companies for outsourcing manufacturing at all, it’s just like bonus points for the companies that do produce domestically that makes them extra cool.

Point is much understood and I agree. I was going broad scale, regardless of where it’s machined, it’s still a piece of metal machined into a yoyo that works.

But again to your point, the perception is different in our minds based on the factors you stated.

Aoda Pyramid, an absolutely amazing object, starting from its gold color tends to bronze, to its absence of finish which however thanks to its shape has a grind ability which, among the yoyos I own, is very rare, on a par with yoyos such as Hatrick or Paolista.
Very balanced, fast, stable, whoever owns it knows it
