Waffle stomper

Waffle stomper is now open source, stomp a waffle on your very own 3d printer.

I also included an assembly instruction video that is mostly helpful if you make your own but will be helpful for anyone who takes theirs apart to help them reassemble.

At 5 minutes and 20 seconds you actually get to see the stomping of the waffles. I jest.

Great video explaining, thank you

I got in my shipment of 4mm wide MR85s, they are still responsive but really nice response.

I couldn’t get the shields off so I tossed half the shipment into a yogurt jar on a magnetic stir plate to try cleaning them.

I’m now realizing that bearing aren’t ferrous.

They are actually. They are occasionally swirling around in the jar. Hold on….

Oh! I thought you had one of those agitators in there

I do also have a stir bar in there. Basically what is happening is i set the bearings on the outer edge of the jar, stir bar in the middle, then the force of the IPA spinning is making the bearing rotate around the edge instead of getting pulled into the middle.

I did try it without a stir bar and putting the bearings in the middle but they all kinda got tied into a magnetic bearing knot and didn’t spin super great.

The 4mm wides once cleaned, shields on, are still responsive in the waffle stomper. I’m not brave enough to deshield them, but I will send them out to folks in their swag packs once they are ready as anyone who damaged a bearing seat should find the 4mm wide play very nice in theirs.

I think the reason they are still responsive is the brake pads are so big and grippy. I’ll probably have to do a different yoyo with some custom printed smaller pads to do an unresponsive with the 4mm bearings.

After failing to remove the shields because I’m not as skilled as Glen at that, I got ahold of a bearing manufacturer in China directly and ordered 100 open dry bearings.

Thats exactly what I ordered. But oooooohhh no - they decided they would completely cake them with grease and shield them anyway!!

The concave A bearings I ordered from China a while back came open and dry as requested, but I ordered ABEC 3, and what arrived wasn’t even ABEC 1. They’re hilariously loose, and will basically make any A bearing yoyo unresponsive (and very very loud), even if you pack them with grease. I can’t bring myself to throw them away, so I’ve been using them in counterweights.

Did you order from Zhangzhou Runstar Bearings Manufacturing Co? I’m curious how likely it is I’ll be shafted.

When they said ABEC-3 they meant ABEC Negative 3. That sucks!

Yep. That is exactly who I ordered from.

They refused to do anything about it too.

Well good thing I just sent them $120 yesterday. Crap lol. Shoulda asked you who screwed you over before I ordered! Lesson learned.
