I dont even see any announcements from the brands themselves
let alone a sale listing
and i know its out there cause this was on sale on a flea market site

only info is that it costs 15,000 yen (~100$)
cant even tell if its metal or plastic, wood rim or 3d printed, or weight rings
nothing :frowning:
all i know is that it looks delicious

Looks 3D printed to me.

Are you sure it’s a project with the brands, not a fan creation/ tribute? I have seen and played some excellent 3d work, however $100 seems kinda steep imo

Yeah. Looks entirely 3D printed.

They are oversized maples printed by turning point. I think these are for Paul to show off at events but not entirely sure.

Hoping the person exaggerated that price because it doesn’t even look like a fancy 3d printed filament. The cost to produce compared to the wooden maple would be like 1/1000 :joy:

Now I did see Crucial is lining up a delrin version of the maple called the milky. That looks awesome.

finally some info. they look good for a 3D print. i really would like to have them if they looked shiny mono like that blue/brass side profile.
not interested in d printed yoyos though

Could it be that these are machined after printing?

I have Turning Points first 3D printed yoyo and it’s excellent. I think it went for around $40 so I can’t imagine this being double. It’s not machined so I’m assuming this is the same but I could be wrong.

Maybe but printing usually is to avoid the cost of machining as you can get the shape and design you want through the layers. There’s also not really anything about the shape that screams hard to print as is…

Also taking fdm printing to a cnc or lathe can result in rippling off layers and trashing the print

Nope, the layer lines, seams, and build plate texture are all clearly visible in the photos, so these are straight off of a printer.

Looking closely at that one black layer I can see the texture.

The Heavy Sleeper is also ~$40 USD.

You can tell from the color and texture these are printed in PLA which will melt if you try to machine it unless you machine it in absolutely ridiculous slow motion. Just some pretty good prints from a well tuned printer.
