Tricks for children

What are some good crowd pleasing 1a tricks for children. I’m putting on a show for the school in which I am volunteering at the moment. Kindergarden. Preschool. Whatever you want to call it.
I don’t think advanced and complicated string tricks will keep their attention for long.
Post away to give me some ideas.

Boing e boing, Eli hops, anything behind the back, anything under the leg, anything “big”.

Do some long string tricks fast. As Elliot said, anything like Neck wraps leg wraps Eli hops Mach 5 anything unusual. Or do 2a (if you can) and do arm wraps. Also try Grinds and picture tricks.

Buzz saw
Picture tricks
Walk the dog (of course)
Monkey up a string (elevator-Kids like the name monkey up a string better)
Rock the baby
spank the baby
A grind or two
creeper
Ping Pong
I have on occassion, wrapped a string around a yoyo unattatched and let it roll across the room. If you have space to safely pull it off, they get a kick out of it especially if you act like it wasn’t supposed to happen.

You are right I’d recommend simple tricks and a strong presentation. Good luck and thanks for thinking about kids.

Also, 4a? 5a? 3a? Bite the dog :). Best if done on a loop 900 or 1080 because of the small gap.

kids are the reason I’m out volunteering in India

just do the classics … it doesn’t take much to impress.

here’s some study material for ya… Tom Smothers Yo-Yo Man …

Thats great turbochicken!

I think you should do a funky dance after every trick just like him.

Do extremely flashy wraps and orbits.

I agree… Idk, he’s very entertaining to me >.<

Elihops, boinge boing. Basically what Jake said.

you guys telling me…

This is your first contact with “Tom Smothers Yo-Yo Man”?

and he does the dance when he’s “In the state of Yo.” :stuck_out_tongue: … it’s part of the act.

this one is pretty epic too

Keep it simple, classic, as noted by skitrz & TurboChicken. large movements like around the world, time warp, warp drive, eli hops etc.

No - way too involved for their attention span. Intricate wraps and all of that don’t work well.

Sky Rocket is a good one :). So is Stop and Go.

I would think Gyroscopic Flop would grab there attention.

If your as advanced as Shu Takada, put on the Party Rock Anthem and do around the world back flip :p.

Any trick that has a lot of outward motion of the yoyo tends to do well.
Boomerang, Boing Boing, etc.

Magic Trick

Yeah! Do double or nothing, bump against your chest. Right as it hits you chest drop your Throw-hand pointer.

Gyroscopic Flop maybe???

just do what you usually do they will be impressed there little kids anything complex will wow them. However some tricks I find that wow them is
Magic trick
Around the world
Rock a baby and dizzy baby
Slacky tricks of any sort
Looping tricks
Counterweight yoyo stuff
Anything unique
