If Iâm not mistaken, the first video shows the pop up landing on the brother mount, while Kowalksiâs has it landing on a trapeze. Is one or the other considered more correct? IME so far itâs a bit easier to get the pop up closer to looking correct while aiming for the brother mount, but thatâs the part thatâs still roughest for me so Iâm not sure.
oh nice, thanks! Yeah, I was guessing it wouldnât matter much, but I was curious. I love stuff like Doc Popâs history vids, so Iâm always wondering how tricks got started and evolved over time.
And Dylanâs way does make the repeater nicer, too.
Yeah the TH â NTH hop is tough! Iâm doing a bit better with a shorter string and trying to keep the string taught during that hop. Not sure if thereâs any trick to it other than practicing how hard to toss it

iâve found that with chopsticks hops and other hops that are pretty precise you have to carefully manage how taught the string is to âpullâ the yoyo into the âtargetâ almost (think of an eli hop where you pull the yoyo back down by bringing your hands apart again vs trying to let it fall back between your hands, one is a lot easier than the other)
basically slack is your enemy and play around with your hand spacing/angles
You donât really need tension the whole th to nth hop. It is helpful to have it at the end to pull the yoyo onto the string. I kinda keep nth closed and then open up the chopsticks C shape and push into the string with nth thumb to establish that tension and pull the yoyo onto the string. I 200% agree that it should feel kind of like an eli hop like how you want to pull the yoyo onto the string vs just trying to catch it loose.
My advice is focus mostly on the end of it right before landing it
