#9 rejections intro

Had to repost, I guess some versions of ratatat wildcat aren’t able to be shared on youtube

I won’t be able to be as consistent with TAW until April, but I’ll do my best to catch up. My protrusions are messy still…

Aight cool rejections are dope. There is a satisfying gt right here also like a ninja vanishy type gt w the slack that comes off via rejection.

What does keeping the triangle do? Seems unnecessary. More importantly, after the double or nothing and his brother, after swinging the yoyo around, i end up with a bind, not a trapeze and his brother.. wait I’m dumb, just move your hand to get the brother mount

Thanks for putting this backhand rejection in at the start of the month! I tried it a few weeks ago and couldn’t work it out. Seeing it again helped me to realize… I was doing it backwards lol. I’m left handed and forgot to swap the sides around when watching the YoTricks video. Got it now!

Week 10: Magic Drop

Looks pretty simple but is famously frustrating. These videos have some good tips but don’t hesitate to reach out with questions!

Bonus trick: Magic Dunk

If you’ve already got magic drop (+ shockwave) figured out, consider this fun chopsticks repeater that uses magic drop.

Have fun working some magic!

Hey this week is one I’ve already been working on! It’s still clunky but im getting there.

Sorry if I talk too much, there is a short POV at the end.

Are there any explainers out there for the Magic Dunk? I keep hitting my hand or missing the string when I try to launch off into the chopstick. I’m pretty ok at Magic Drop, so it’s just the second half of the repeater getting me

One little other thing I’d like to note that helped me a lot with learning magic drop is that you really need to feed into the motion and pull on the string with your thumb to create tension right at the moment when the yoyo is about to pass over your index finger

Something that helped me with Magic Drop, at first, was to use more organic shapes. I got it from a youtube video comment of all places, actually. I really did go from getting it so intermittently as to not count to getting it pretty consistently. I can do it now on V shapes, but at first, that extra friction just helps the rejection happen as you learn where to put your hands.

I’ll post a magic dunk video tomorrow/this weekend!

One tip for now is try doing the chopsticks part in different ways to see what works for you. For example I prefer just my (NTH) thumb and pointer, Tsukasa is also using the middle finger. I think this tip applies to many chopsticks tricks not just this one

Yeah, thanks! Just trying with some different fingers, like just the thumb and pointer, I did get a few hits in, so on its own that’s a great tip

That’s one of my favorites.

doing this trick the original way it was done without the extra finger in the trapeze is really hard
