What was that first one called? I love a good repeater and this looks like one I could accomplish.

Week 27 - Kobayashi’s rejection to hook

We’re over the half way mark for the year! To celebrate I thought it would be fun to learn an element @GTDropKnot has used a few times in his Instagram videos lately because he’s done a great job shepherding the thread this year.

This trick is flashy, but also much, much simpler than it seems at first.

The tutorial is by Kris Toledo, so it is left handed. If you need to reverse it to see it right handed, you can see it flipped here: https://www.mirrorthevideo.com/watch?si=b-Km42b_v_JDaatq&v=j360RT1H2a4&feature=youtu.be

Finally, if you’re finding the tension hook element tough (or just need more instruction than “do a Zach hook”), here’s a pair of tutorials that are variations of just that element:

For my take, I decided to do the full sequence I’ve seen Henry use a few times. Not nearly so clean, but I love the back to back rejection-hook sequence.

Awesome
Thank you!

Hah that’s very sweet!
Yah I love this Toya trick and this sequence! It’s just like dopamine spam bc they all make my brain feel good.

Also I’m going to just add this video for more help with that tension hook. I think it’s easiest to start with the houdini mount version bc it teaches how to hold the string back and that step is important. Besides that all you really do is hop the Yoyo up a tiny bit, release, and move throwhand index up and to the throw hand side.

Just added it to the first post for the week

If you’re having trouble with the Yoyo snagging, you gotta just really commit. Send the Yoyo into the back string hard and let the momentum carry it back around. You’ll miss some but then you get the feel right and will start hitting it over and over again. Good luck!

The youtuber Throw just posted a video of this trick a couple weeks ago and it was driving me insane haha. Didn’t know this tutorial of the trick existed. I might try it again.

Oh yeah I like his tuts! I didn’t see that one but yeah ask any questions that come up! This whole Toya trick is easier than it looks and that’s part of the reason I like it hah It also has a cool back and forth with the string phwiping around.

Decided to start TaW, and this rejection combo was much easier than I expected.

What are the other hooks in the full Henry sequence called? Im not the biggest hook fan but i may try them since this was fun to learn and land!

The next element is a beefhook and then a rejection slack that’s not really a hook. Here’s the tutorial for both. Fair warning beefhook is very frustrating at first. Also incredibly satisfying to land once you do start to get it. The meta combo is the tutorial I picked up that rejection element from.
