Throwers That Make Art

Born and raised in Philly, live in NJ now. Went there all the time. Haven’t been though in a long time, looks a lot different than 10 years ago! I remember the streets because I delivered papers there in the mornings

I like the small bowl with the blue/orange glaze inside. How’d you pull off that fade?

layering ! and carefully so haha, the inside is a very runny glaze and will ruin our kiln shelves if i don’t do it quite right

Do you let the glaze dry before adding another layer, or do you fire it before adding another layer?

definitely wait for it to dry, cross contaminating glazes in a public studio is not nice especially since the technicians mix them in large batches

These are photos from when I visited my uncle’s studio a few years ago. I’m a big fan of his work with bowls and tile, as well as how he inlays glass into some of his works

woah!!! those are all super beautiful, love the pattern work

very tedious to get right and they probably take forever to finish!

(pic of glaze testing)

i would love to work with more stencil work and intricate designs but my studies are focused around functional ware atm, someday!!
