The merits of video

I go to sleep tonight with a renewed yoyoing vigor. I used a half decent webcam to video myself practicing tonight, not using anything special, but just making sure I wore something I could see the string in front of. Now I am not a good thrower. Not even a bit of one. But making a video of myself practicing made me realize how far I have come. I’ve been throwing probably for just under a year, and now have a record of having made progress; and from throwing a Brain with little to no idea about anything a year ago, this video made me smile.

I will not edit it. It is not for public consumption. But I urge all you yoyoers out there who are currently going through a phase of struggling with throwing, like I was, to go and make a video of yourself. It’ll make you happy. It’ll make you realize that although the people we can watch on this website so frequently are incredibly talented, there are the seeds of serious yoyoing skills in what you are doing, and that just maybe, with a good nurture, you could be one of those crazy good people. I’m not trying to say each one of us will be the next [insert name of favorite pro/amateur here] but we can be good enough to both satisfy ourselves, and maybe please the occasional onlooker. Ignore the occasional knot, or those times when you mistakenly go out the wrong side of a GT, but just go throw, and be happy! Then throw some more

I recorded my first video of a trick tonight! What are the odds.

I completely agree btw. Def going to have to record some more tricks

Also… I forgot to mention, I totally throw with knots in my string all the time. I don’t even care sometimes.

I noticed this too… Also I think yoyoing looks way cooler from the front than it does looking down at the yoyo
