I’m calling this Rancid milk, but Rocky + Christmas themed.
Slack hooks for days
A while ago, I finally landed this Zach Gormley Gt. Let me know, what you think.
Been practicing brent stole on and off for a while. I think I’ve got it figured out now, just have to clean it up and make it consistent.
I landed spirit bomb! I have been managing to get it though the “hole” a few times but keep missing the string. I was causally playing and talking to my wife and I just randomly did it in one shot and we both stopped talking a second like “woah!” lol. It was a fun way to start the day
Man those slack hooks look so fun and amazing. Great job!!
Sorry, no video because I don’t have any social media sharing platforms, but had to post my excitement: after nearly a month of work, I landed a basic E-fan-styled combo (double on + under mount). I have never done a trick that required such coordination between my hands!
When I first tried, the yoyo would tip over, and the counterweight would tangle with nth. So I broke the trick down:
I spent a solid week on nth: just the double on and under mount. Realized that when I throw 1a I always did my trapeze on a slope, with th higher than nth. So I worked on keeping my hands at the same height. This made my shoulders sore; I was working out a bad habit in my automatic movements.
I spent my next week on the, twirling the counterweight without going off plane. I had to get comfortable making the small circular wrist movements without consciously thinking about it.
Last week, I put the motions together in simplified form: 360, twirl the weight with th, trapeze on and off with nth. On and off. On and off. Over and over until I found the rhythm between my two hands.
Then finally, this weekend, I did it. The whole thing, at speed. It looks like chaotic black magic. It feels amazing, watching the weight and yoyo twirl in front of me.
I still have some work to go, perfecting the motion, but I have confidence I can make it.
What I love so much about yoyo is the bliss of watching my own brain rewire in real time: with each throw, I make microscopic improvements, until finally I can chain those improvements together into something beautiful.
I first got into yoyo in the 90s back then the hardest trick we knew about was split the atom. My mate at school landed it a few times but i never could.
Eventually i stopped yoyoing but over the years i would sometimes buy one and mess around for a few days/weeks then it would end up forgotten about.
Then about 4 years ago i saw a video called 26 levels of yoyo in which Harrison Lee showed a bunch a tricks i had never seen before. One trick stood out and made me want to pick up a yoyo again that trick was called Black Hops.
So i got a new yoyo and started on learning tricks again and over time learnt more tricks and bought alot of yoyos. And now today i have finally landed the trick that got me back into yoyo. Black hops.
