Finally went back and tried Buddha’s revenge, wormhole, and the wrist mount. I know nothing ground shattering but I was fairly chuffed with myself. Next is spiritbomb or white Buddha …

Decided to try my hand at frontstyle 3a again… Just got blue line rolls, working on velvet rolls
I got paprika the other day. Still needs lots of polishing though.
Stuff i learned in the past 2 weeks or so that i havent mentioned- double brent stole and trapeze stall to trapeze bro stall to double or nothing stall.
After getting my velocity, I learned The Matrix pretty quickly, then moved on. In the past three weeks, I’ve gotten about 3/4 or more proficient and smooth on plastic whip, Mcbride Rollercoaster, Buddha’s Revenge, and the Wormhole. Getting better at Wrist Wrip and Zipper, but haven’t focused on them as much, so hit or miss. The new throws from the mystery box have really been fun while practicing this stuff the last week.
I was thinking about getting my nephew the velocity, glad to hear it can take you so far. I have never used one personally so I just wasn’t sure. Do u like the way it can change?
Btw, I’m about where your at, just learned kwibijo and smoothing out what you mentioned. So I’ll ask, is it just me or do you keep binding up on plastic whip and have it climb up and crush your knuckles? Love it when I hit it, get really pissed when I don’t and crush my fingers.
If anyone else has help feel free to give advice.
I do like the way it can change. My previous yoyo was a fireball, so it was nice progressively letting it out as my bind technique got better. I feel completely comfortable binding with my new yoyos as a result. In regard to plastic whip, I had that issue with the Velocity, possibly due to the shape or the somewhat narrow gap, but not with my new throws. I also never had this problem when starting to learn Wrist Whip, so it could be technique. I’m thinking about tightening it back down a bit and using it for responsive tricks, since I have a genesis and shaqlerstar now, so the adjustment is nice in that regard.
I like that it tends not to play really fast, which has been nice for learning tricks. The big drawback I have found with it is that it isn’t the most stable; it tends to go off kilter easily when the yoyo slows down very much. However, as a result, I developed some good technique while learning rewind. That took a couple of weeks of practice to get solid on, then only a couple days each to learn rollercoaster and buddha’s revenge. Felt really good hitting those quickly and consistently once I had the movements down. I’m a little intimidated by Kwijibo, but I’m betting it’ll be a heck of a growth experience.
Awesome, I think I’ll go with that one. If he seems to grow out of it maybe I’ll get him a DM2 or something. Maybe I’ll make today a technique day and work on my throws, and go back to responsive.
That’s natural when learning plastic whip, just keep practicing and it will fix itself.
As for the Velocity, that’s what I mainly used my first few months of yoyoing and it was nice. It’s a B size bearing so it makes binding easier to learn, which was awesome for me back then. Adjusting the gap so its responsive is a bit iffy because spin times are pretty short and it gets more vibe but you can live with it. It’s a great throw to start unresponsive though
Managed to hit 15 consecutive inside loops with my Fast Eddy Shooter. Getting better at keeping it at the control angle. Next stop, ∞?

I just landed triple brent stole with my newly made (been alive for less than 10 minutes) whippy crocostring. You dont even understand how whippy this thing is… I swear it whips better than any other string I have ever played. And ive tried toxics and gray matter!
Haha i just found out that the whip string i made isnt polyester at all… Its rayon. And it. Is. AWESOME! Anyone ever tried a rayon string before? I’ve never heard of them before.
