This seems exactly right for the concept of “Amber Waves”…
Or maybe this…![]()

What about… a wood grain hydro dip?
Are these septum rings?
I think they are just titanium body piercing jewelry. Probably could use them as such. I searched blurple and these were the color I was thinking of
I may be a minority but hey…like what I like. ![]()
I have looked at some of the “louder” splashes and I like them. I like solids, too, and have a couple ODs in solid colours. Personally, I’m not all-in for pastels. Light blue and light pink just make me feel like I’m at a baby shower. [shrug]
It’s from Oregon. Oughta have some huckleberry, some wild tropical colours in homage to the Pacific Rim, something truly hippie…“with a modern aesthetic.” I could groove on that.

UV cerakote in Pink or Purple. . .or both
Cerakote bape!
I bought a new Nickel Plated Black Canon from YYE in 2025. Was it stock from '21 you think?
Unknown…. deepest State.
Personally, I think a Great playing yo-yo works in just about any colorway.
Unless the color looks like a bad salad Bar salad coming up the wrong way….. the color/colors are fine by me.
I’m not even a black yo-yo kinda guy, lol.
I spent over 20 years basically painting anything that didn’t paint me first. From domestic cars to foreign cars and exotic cars and custom motorcycles and speedboats in jet, skis and sand rails and dune, buggies and horse, trainers and RVs and you name it… A slick black paint job was one of the biggest requests regardless of what it was gonna be put on.
I don’t remember who told me this? But somebody back in college I have century ago told me that black isn’t even technically a color. They were giving a lecture on colors and it was stated that white is the absence of color and black is the darkest shade of gray. I never really checked to figure out if that was a reality based statement? My theory was if people wanna pay me enough, they’re paying for the right to complain. And if black is their jam… Then black it is. I had three levels of black artistry. The first one I called the liquid bomb. The second one I called the fluid fantasy. Any ultimate black finish I called the cream dream. One would reflect whatever was in front of it. The second one would reflect the sky, so clearly the images of the clouds if they were clouds were clearly outlined in the clarity of the reflection. The highest level of black finish was so mirror like you could kneel down next to the car and count the whiskers in your mustache. Of course, if you are a girl kneeling down and you can also count the whiskers in your mustache, you may have more important things to deal with then the color on a yo-yo, lol.
Anyway, back on track, lol. I just painted so much black in my custom painting career that it honestly got kind of boring. I mean seriously… Black can’t have variations but more often than not. It just looks the same black. It’s either glossy black semi gloss, black or blasted low gloss or no gloss black. And trust me if you got like 50 yo-yos and they’re all black it honestly doesn’t make a great photo opportunity.. if you post up your 50 yo-yo collection and they’re all black that’s exactly what people see. Ooh look a black one of those it look a black one of those you look at that one in the back row it’s black isn’t it just like all those ones in the front row and the ones in the middle row and the one over there in the corner that’s at the edge of the image black black black whatever.
But even though I have that obviously rolling around in my memories that I will make an exception with individual yo-yos. First of all the ball gets rolling with a company that produces excellent playing yo-yos. Then you get a specific yo-yo that takes less than 30 seconds of throwing to know that it’s really a good yo-yo within the parameters of specs and just in general a damn good playing yo-yo. The only thing that could be better on that yo-yo is a cool finish. A striking finish a memorable finish a lasting good impression finish a nice black unknown finish.
And if I can step away from that mindset for a minute… I would also suggest half black and half clear. Half black and half gold. Half orange and half black. A purple and pink fade with gold splash. A pink ceracoat that glows in the dark. Or any neon green, neon, orange, that glows in the dark.
Ok, l’m done..
I believe that there was only a single run, which was released to various retailers including YYE over time.
Here is the 2021 drop announcement:
That’s super sharp!
Anyone say pink cerakote yet? Anyway pink cerakote.
As someone with a black Intro, I can see where you’re coming from.
Not one to tell them what to do but I’ve done extensive research because I’m going to be plating some yo-yos soon and I think they would benefit from finding an electroless plating service. Compared to traditional electroplating it provides a thinner and much more even and tolerant plating.
And how many places are there in the US that do this for a reasonable price?
There are a lot in the WA/OR area, a surprising amount, but I haven’t priced them out so I dunno how many would be interested in the projects and reasonably priced. That’s more research than I can put into this since my plating is happening outside the us.
Just a silly(?) question/possibility… could a yo-yo be fashioned from precious/semi-precious gems?
