Sub-Standard Kitty String?

With the rebranding of Kitty String, there are different classes of string, with the lowest tier being “sub-standard”. I believe that’s the only one that hasn’t been released yet. Does anyone know anything about it?

From what I can gather, it’s going to be their economy string. I’m wondering if it’ll just be a rebranded version of the classic recipe or if they’ll keep making the classic version too and sub-standard will be an even cheaper option.

Is that really the name of the string? Doesn’t seem like a good marketing move.

My guess, and I’m only speculating is that these may be economy B-Grades, for color or length issues.

As far as the difference in the line up, this is an important distinction. 1st Class and the Signatures and made in Japan. Classic or the Kitty that we’ve used prior is made in the Philippines. Different machines, operators and materials.

That’s what I thought too lol. “Economy class” or “Coach” might have been a better choice.

1st Class strings are pretty close in price to Regular, are they significantly different or better?

I wouldn’t say that one is any better, but they are different. 1st Class is stiffer and last longer, however Classic is softer and has that great sweet spot of play for the first amount of play that all Kitty fans enjoy. They are two different strings and I like playing them both as it depends on what I’m lacing them on. I will say that I’m back on Kitty after wandering through the array of boutiques over the last few years.

Thank you for that comparison. I went ahead and ordered some of the 1st class to test them out. Bulk strings are just easier. I like boutique stuff but it’s just easier to buy 100 and know that you’ll have string no matter what.

10 minutes? I use classic Kitty daily and I would say it takes about 10 minutes to break in. I get a couple days out of a Fat Kitty String easy, but everyone has different preferences.

Never mind lol. Glad to have a good supply in any event.

No need to remove your posts or anything, wasn’t trying to offend! It’s perfectly normal for us to have different experiences/opinions about the same product. That’s why there’s such a wide variety of strings available. :slightly_smiling_face:

I think the orgin of the current batch I have is different than before. Too subjective, no evidence,
