look up “yoyo string rig” on YouTube it shows brad from the former company snacktime strings and he has a awesome rig set up to spin 6 strings at a time an has a good method for folding. I want a rig like his. It looks like he could easily make 6 strings in like 3 minutes.
MattB: modman10:Hey guys, so I have found that it is too much work to make all my strings by hand so I have decided to make a auto string rig. I have the motors down and all but I need help with the folding. I was thinking that I could just attach them to swivels and then fold it over. And they would just do there thing. could anyone see this not working?
Not sure I see it exactly, but if my guess is correct, I see a potential issue. Best to try the method with one and see if there are any issues before scaling up to multiples.

Yeah that’s a pretty cool video
Ive made a couple and figured out that it’s good to add heavier weights to lower weights so it holds tension better. Now got to try Serger an Rayon Does anybody else here use Rayon? I just love the soapy feel it had to it!
You might like the Coats & Clark Dual Duty XP thread? The strings I’ve made of all XP feel ‘soapy’ to me. Nice strings all around too as others have mentioned.

I think that coats and clark definitely feels soapy, but not in the same way that rayon does
Ahh… never mind, this will be gone as soon as i figure out how to delete a post, my question was born of a misinterpretation of something.

Cool. Never tried rayon so I wouldn’t know. Might have to give some a whirl!
Mercanized thread, often used in embroidery, is quite slick.
I suggest mixing in some cotton or poly to soften it for your hands as well as helping it bind MUCH easier.

Amen to that!
I’ve started making string, now I will post here :).
Anyone think a swivel doesn’t tighten the strings enough?

yea but to make up for that spin your thread tighter before folding the tension will help quite a bit

Okay, thanks!

Ok so I really like BG1s and I wanted to create a similar string that’s maybe a little slicker and whips a little faster anybody have a suggestion? I was thinking type 7 with serger spun and trilobal Polly but I’m not sure.

That sounds pretty good, make sure you twist it about 10 inches or so.
Ok thanks!
I was able to make a very good one on the 3rd try ! I had to twist it 14 inches due to my fish swivel letting a little tension go since it’s not a ball bearing and can’t control speed

Nice man, is it everything you thought it would be?
What do you guys think about a YYX exclusive sample pack that contains a few string from each of us?
Could we work together to make this happen?
/p
I would love that
That sounds neat I better get spinning

That sounds sick! We each contribute like 20 strings, and someone would put together packs that we all get containing each other’s strings? So give 20 get 20?
