SPYY Production Release Timeline

The day has come. I found a Train Wreck 2 and completed my collection of every available production model SPYY with the exception of the original Radian proto from 2006. If you have one of those, get at me.

Now, I am trying to piece together the release timeline as best as I can. I would like to get it down to month and year for each model. Some of this info is available through yoyowiki, rewind, and @SCUBA_Steve 's old forum posts, but the rest is hard to come by. I will post what I have so far below. If you have anything to contribute let me know! As far as I know this is every production model SPYY that was available. 31 distinct models. Not counting special editions and unreleased protos.

My Revenger and EH are at home, but here is a photo of everything else for now. I’ll update it later.

Are you looking to fill this in with production dates, or release dates? I can do some digging on the latter

Release dates! That would be awesome! I did some digging to find what I have so far, and I’m still digging, but some of this stuff especially pre 2010 is extra hard to find.

This:

  1. is an extremely impressive collection, congrats on acquiring them all fr!

  2. will be a really helpful resource when filled in

  3. excited the hell out of me for SPYY’s upcoming return this year. So pumped to see what they have in store, specifically the CLYW collab I’m sure will come out @ Worlds 27.

I’ve been on a kick of trying to develop the resources I need but cant find lol. Helping others in the future while helping myself in the now!

I really can’t wait to see what Steve brings to Worlds 2027! I’m already planning the 13 hour road trip to Canada so I can be there in person!

Congratulations on completing the collection!
I’m so envious!
I really hope they release some new models from the legendary brand SPYY again!

(Hey, just out of curiosity: did you happen to come across any red Pistolero models for sale during your search?
They really don’t show up for sale very often…)

Do you know if these were actual release dates, or just when they made it to YYE? I know a lot of times models will release well before making it to the retailers. I added these to the timeline and noted that these are specifically YYE release dates for now.

Thank you! I haven’t seen a red Pistolero, but I have a red Pistolero 2. My two original Pistoleros are both black, and one is a star grade. The only other one I have seen come up for sale was clear.

The eH was only a YYE release to commemorate Ed’s 2012 year of Fixed Axle.

There is a review on YouTube from July of 2009 for Flying V

Now that is good research. Thank you!

Might be able to cross reference release dates using YoyoNation / YYN Forum internet archive or something

I haven’t tried to dive into the way back machine yet. I haven’t had a lot of great luck with it loading stuff properly, but if I need to I’ll give it a shot!
