Trying to “resell” this is rather foolish…

Maybe it’s subjective, but “Mint In Box” and “thrown and handful of times” are not the same thing, just friendly advice to help your listing

Are you saying that if a yoyo is thrown a few times then it’s no longer mint? It may not be new any longer, but in my opinion it’s still mint if undamaged and smooth.

I think it comes back to that age old discussion about “Mint in Box” vs. “Mint w/Box” haha

Seems to me mint is mint whether it’s in the box or with the box. Of course the box should probably be mint too.

Not quite, specifically “Mint in Box” is the debatable point. “Mint in Box” implies box never opened, never thrown, ETC

It’s pedantic but ‘Mint with box’ would seem more accurate. Like I said, this is probably a subjective term, to some this opinion is correct, to others it is incorrect, and that’s okay

Oof sorry didn’t know I beat a dead horse on this one, I’m newer to the forums, don’t mind my rambling. Hope OP enjoys the free bumps

I see your point. If it was never removed from the box I’d call it “new in box” which is even better than mint.

Maybe folks should start putting a seal of some sort that must be “broken” to get into the box so there isn’t any question whether it’s mint or new.

That’s a clever distinction, I appreciate that, might help some future listings of mine. I think I would have mistakenly called it mint and shorted myself

If a throw has no damage or wear and has the box its mint in box to me.
Almost every company that cares about QC tests the throw before its boxed up.
Using the logic that if it’s thrown a handful of times makes it not mint in box, then technically using that same logic, it’s not mint in box when it ships from some the makers.
I’ve seen plenty of listings that say mint in box and smooth as glass. I see no issue I would want to know if it had any vibe issues or anything like that even if it is new, just my take on it.

Same understanding, I usually just see the Mint (or NMTBS) aspect and assume that means it’s pristine essentially.

buying something to resell it at a 50% (?) markup within a week is both perfectly allowed and also annoying scalper behavior, and i agree it’s a nice yo in a sick color

Yea we know that, so what does that have to do with you trying to profit on it ? If you’re asking for retail / your money back that’d be one thing… this is just scummy and I’m glad we all agree.

Dude what are you still on about? Some yoyo makes/models/colorways instantly go up in price…Like monkeyfinger .. one drop has some badass stuff like that too. Ever seen a demonite terrarian?
Some stuff is like that and i feel this is one of those..

Yeah you’ve still just taken this from someone who would appreciate it just to make a quick 50$. Just cause it’s allowed doesn’t mean it’s rude behavior. Like you don’t see people flipping g2 swirls the week after a raffle win. It’s just kinda one of the unwritten rules here that we don’t buy just to scalp.

Can someone explain this to me a little? Im coming at this with curiosity. If they sell it for a profit within a week it’s frowned upon. But if they sell it for a profit 5 months later no one cares.

The rarity of the object didnt change why did our attitudes?

I believe scalping is frowned upon because if it’s accepted people start thinking of these items as money making schemes and then you have people building bots and buying up all the stock which is terrible.

That probably didnt happen here why is this person getting so much grief? Why are we calling them a scalper?

I think the duration between purchase and sale implies the intention of the original purchase. If I bought a sought after item (say, a ps5 on launch) and made a sale within a week, people would assume I was part of the large bandwagon of scalpers who only purchased with the intent of resale.

On the other hand, if I sold even at a markup 5 months later, the obvious conclusion is instead that I bought it with the intention to play, and that just didn’t work out for whatever reason.

Obviously we can’t read people’s minds, and we can’t know exactly why he bought this throw in the first place, but I think the negative attitude around this kind of sale comes from the fact that it seems a pretty likely guess as to why – scalping. Especially in a community built around a mutual love/interest around these items, the idea that someone might come in and ‘commercialize’ bst sort of runs counter to that sentiment, regardless of strict rules unbroken.

Just my personal take!
