Don’t forget that Janus can be also used as a worry stone/rolling coin. Rollers are also great for the office.
Mines setup as begleri beads but yeah knuckle yo is fantastic. I often have my ti Janus and el tio as my office carries or edc.
It would be cool to get a ti knuckle yo with a slim center but no idea if that would actually work maybe ss or brass would be better for that density wise
This makes sense for a programer where your job is thinking and designing stuff. Your staring at a screen and lines of code and your hands just need to be doing something while your looking for a syntax error or trying to figure out why a loop is wrong or why your outputs don’t match your inputs properly,
That and the half dozen pointless scrum meeting’s where your assigning fake values to prioritize tasks in a project mostly for leadership to get warm and fuzzies about progress and to justify the PM/scrum master existence.
Yeah that’s right I know how to waterfall and agile like yall code monkeys I just dislike it lol
I made a Ti prototype originally. I will bring it back to production. I will be sacrificing density for the mini-yoyo configuration but that will reduce weight when in roller mode and that would be sort of an enhancement.
That would be super cool. My biggest complain on roller config is it feels bulky and heavy. Beads it’s alright but still pretty heavy. It’s honestly a tad wide as a mini yoyo which isn’t bad but does lend to being easy to tilt. All in all still a great edc fidget. I would love some sort of carry case. It’s been in my to do list to design a 3d printable thing to carry all the bits so I can change from begleri, to roller to yoyo and not worry about the parts not being used getting lost but haven’t had time for that
Can’t imagine not being able to carry a simple pocket knife with a locking blade. Folks here in Georgia walking around in the grocery store with open carry firearms like it’s the Wild West no permit needed.
similar to the sunshine state…
This thread has inspired me to take this challenge coin with me when I can’t bring a yoyo
Good excuse to take it with me everywhere ![]()
haha nope, if its pointy its basically not allowed in public in england (with a few exceptions)
example exceptions would be if you are camping, rock climbing, canoeing or something, where having a knife is an essential tool to cook, cut ropes, etc.
I do not recognize this branch of the service. Is this Christian virtue-signaling?
Yeah the book of Ephesians branch of the service🤣
Looks like an LDS challenge coin to me. I had a buddy in highschool who had something kind of similar a long time back,
Not specifically LDS, but yeah, I did get it in church. If everyone has a problem with me posting something like this, then fine, I’ll take it down
I don’t think anyone has a problem, at least I certainly don’t. Seems more like general razzing. You’re good! ![]()
Not disapproving at all. But who is going to ‘challenge’ you over religion? To me; challenge coins are for military service since there are unscrupulous individuals who like to claim service they did not perform.
I just used the term “challenge coin” since I dunno what else to call it.
Clubs, religion, sports, tv shows, yoyo manufacturers have in the last decade or two been making their own and labeling them challenge coins to the point that I didn’t even know the term originated from military until this conversation. They often come up in skill toy conversations to the point that I thought they were used for “challenges” lol like rolling coins between knuckles and such and assumed that was where the name came from. Learn something new everyday.
I had some made from my wedding for the groomsmen. The challenge is that if you run into each other and one pulls their coin out and the other doesn’t have theirs, they have to buy the coin person a drink. If the other person DOES have theirs, the one who challenged has to buy.
Yeah lots of “communities “ have borrowed this tradition. I had a Star Trek writing club in college and at the time other similar clubs where present across the US so “we” had a custom tag for such a an occasion as you meet someone who also had such a niche hobby. I’ll note a few times stolen valor concerns came up as it mimicked military customs and things and there where some vets in our ranks, the general consensus was along the lines of they will get over it.
