Hi all, was looking for advice on trading a high end throw international. I’m in Australia and could end trading anywhere in the world. Anyone got any experience.
Thanks in advance
Rep check them, and simultaneously they should also be rep checking you.
If they don’t have much rep (or same goes for you, skim around their posts/socials and just chat and get a vibe check on them).
I just use my gut when trading alongside rep checks and it hasn’t failed me, but simultaneously I go in with the mindset that things could happen. Something could get lost or damaged in the mail, maybe this is the point where they go rogue and don’t hold up their end of the trade. When I trade I just accept the potential risk.
Haven’t had any issues personally. I will say if you’re the type to overly stress about yoyo vibe/condition/postal couriers being slow, etc. then you probably shouldn’t be trading to begin with.
Resolving a dispute if you’re unhappy with the yoyo you get in the trade is gonna be a lot weirder than just sending the yoyo back and asking for a refund. Even if trading domestic, this isn’t really an international only issue.
I love trading personally, just be smart about it.
Thanks for your experience. I guess my main concern is a lost package, would be a few hundred dollars out of pocket. Maybe just need to look into shipping insurance.
Consideration should be made that insurance only covers the actual value of the yoyo(s), not the perceived or estimated value, especially for more collectible ones. You’ll likely need original receipts to back up any claim, not just a copy of the G&S transaction (I don’t believe USPS will accept claims that are F&F).
Thanks so much, I didn’t know this.
So far I’ve had no problems with post to and from Adelaide from all over. In the last year I’ve posted to Florida during a hurricane and California during a bushfire and still all good.
When posting, tracking on my end usually stops when it reaches the local distribution centre and only twice have I actually been notified of delivery. One of those occasions I’d already seen it in the What Did You Get In The Mail thread as well.
Biggest hurdle is probably the staff at Auspost, many of whom are getting on and their role is changing to mostly computer managed parcel post.
