Riverwalk: My first Full-Length Yo-Yo Edit in Over a Decade!

Hey y’all, been throwing for ~15 years, and I decided last year to get back into it more seriously and to document my progress on IG ( Daniel Garrett (@dan_dan_the_yoyo_man) • Instagram photos and videos) and YouTube ( Daniel Garrett - Throws and Tunes - YouTube)!

I’ve been working hard posting videos on IG over the last 6 months and YouTube the last month or so, and thought I’d share my first full-length yo-yo vid in over a decade! The weather was perfect on Saturday, so I got out and got a ton of great footage I’m excited to share!

I’m really happy with how it turned out, and I hope you like it! Yes, the thumbnail is a DNA, but I kept trying to find a thumbnail I liked better and honestly couldn’t find one. I may change it later, but in any case, enjoy!

Very very nice the jazz was a great choice of music nice chill day at the river walk. Your closing winks and smiles really project the confidence and enjoyment of the craft. Very nice dedication to proper trick execution and multiple disciplines and styles has paid off.

Good work

Great Job! I would have been afraid that I would toss the offstring yoyo in the water though.

Thank you so much! I am classically trained and have been singing with chamber choirs for about 8 years but I’ve been singing since I was in elementary school in church choirs. Haven’t gone too much into opera besides learning a few arias and art songs but wouldn’t be opposed to trying it, especially since I’ve been working with a voice teacher lately on my solo voice  My heart is definitely in choral singing though

Thank you! Had a couple close calls, but I made sure to throw in such a way that the yoyo was spinning away from the river and to not be too close to the water if I could avoid it

Thank you so much, that’s very kind of you! I’m super happy with how this turned out and I’m glad you’ve been enjoying the content on Instagram!

Good job with the leg orbits! You do the 180s backwards, but as long as it’s consistent, it works. Looks good!

Thanks for the kind words y’all!

That’s interesting but out of curiosity, which direction do you normally go and are you referring to the turns or the actual orbits? I just found these to be more natural for me but is it normally orbited the other way?

When I turn, I pop the yoyo straight up, so for me the yoyo is orbiting the same way (dominant hand lifts) but you continue the orbit as you turn, so you have one orbit where your non-dominant hand lifts the yoyo instead.

Oh I think I see what you mean now, that’s a really interesting catch, thank you!
